I checked CBC news mobile app and apparently Canada is tired for first place in combined medal count. What a glorious day!

Am I along in feeling that this is one of the least hyped summer Olympics in a long long time?

London was good and Beijing was off the chart with its production/showcase.

No one cares about the Olympics any more.

I think we're tied for most golds right now too. So crazy!

Depends on your definition of hyped because there was a lot of news about it leading into the start - none of it good.

That was a sweet bike race today, constant attacks. The commentary was horrible though. So many crashes and changes in the lead.

Watched all of the 48kg women's weightlifting today. Pretty awesome - used CBCs app. Finally we can watch the events we want when they're on.

I always loved watching weightlifting but it was never on enough.

Flat tire galore after the cobble stones.

I used to swim and I like to watch swimming.

USA was absent. All I saw at the opening ceremonies were Russians in suits.

To be fair, I think the NK gymnast just thought it'd be cool to smile at the funny rectangular bear.

I can't believe Mara Abbott lost the race at the very end.:banghead:

Had Van Vleuten not dropped Abbott on the descent and worked together, they could've been on the podium. That's how it goes sometimes, go big or go home. I cringed when I saw that crash live. It's good that it sounds like she'll recover. I felt for Abbott. She looks like a pure climber. On the flat solo, out of steam vs 3 heavier built cyclists working together, not a chance.

Water turned green today. I guess they have to blame global warming.

Such a crazy swim for her. She went from 7'th in the first half of the race to getting an Olympic Record. Props to her.
