Just a warning, I found this on Kijiji:
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/calgary/1992-toyota-mr2-sw20-turbocharged/1188247059

I used to own this MR2 just last year and sold it with around 220,000 kms. Now this seller is claiming it actually has 180,000kms. Straight up lying. It's not the same person that I sold it to so I have no contact info.

Here's the ad:

"Selling our 1992 Toyota MR2 Turbocharged

Says 224000km on dash because it was replaced (due to burnt circuit.) Original has only 180000km

Has two, two way starters (compustar)
After market sparco racing seats
After market electronic boost controller
After market Momo steering wheel with quick release
After market wheels with Falken sports tires
and a second set of rims (the stock rims) with winter tires with it
Clean engine

Will allow test drives

$6500 or best offer
NO TRADES please
Please reply to ad or text me if you are interested.

Maybe this seller was misinformed by a previous owner?

Ya that's very possible. If it's not him lying then it's whoever sold it to him.

Why lie about that? It's not like 180,000 is "low KM" and not like 220,000 is crazy high either. Makes no sense to be doing this on purpose, I assume someone is mistaken, or there is more to the story. Maybe the motor has been replaced and that has 180,000 km?

Hmmm ya definitely sketchy. Well if anyone's looking at a red JDM MR2 just keep this in mind.

I agree that it seems odd to misrepresent the kms from 220 to 180, but maybe they thought it would be worth an extra grand or two. He was asking a lot more than I sold it for. There was no mention of a replacement engine and it looked exactly the same as when I had it, except dirtier.

I cant stand these people that use the swapped motors km. there's more to a car than a motor :banghead:

Go to pick n' pull, I've seen many vehicles with the tach's missing. You know where they're going...

This has happened a few times with this car. Every now and then when it goes back up for sale someone says the km's are lower than they really are or that the dash was swapped.

IIRC the Alberta vehicle information report I gave you when you bought it even said it had been imported/registered in Canada around 175xxx or something around that.
