Does anybody knew any good new ISP's in calgary, compared to telus and shaw. currently on shaw, thinking of changing, as these guys increasing the prices every couple of months.

I saw a promo offer on shaw, i wont qualify as i am not a new customer, anything on telus side ?

Were going with Tekksavvy. 100$ for a modem cost up front but you will save hundreds a year from Shaw. (40$ vs 80$ month)

The average home user with a laptop and tablet has zero need for 150 down. Complete hosery from Shaw, again. Latency is more important that DL speeds for gaming.

Except when you have to wait for a 400mb patch to download...

*I'm on Shaw. I have nothing to add to this thread.

How the service itself so far ? I do know that they lease shaw or telus lines, but i have heard that shaw and telus takes them out of service just to screw their customers, not sure how true it is.

How much for the modem if we buy it from amazon and what about install fees ?

A difference of ~2 minutes @ 30mbs, vs. ~22 seconds at 150bms. Not even worth mentioning if its an occasional update.

Saving ~500$/year is worth it however. Ill wait for 98 seconds to save ~500$.

With the 150mbps deals from shaw and telus I don't see teksavvy/vmedia being worth it currently especially with the up front costs.
