View Full Version : Food you've bought on a whim that was surprisingly good

So despite being an older white guy, I am quite into trying new foods and last night while at Superstore something caught my eye called 'Peanut Punch'. It intrigued me enough to buy one, what the hell, if it was gross I'd just throw it out - certainly, no one in the family was expecting it to be very appealing.

Never the less, I opened it up this morning, poured it into a glass and had a sip and to my surprise, it was fabulous - tasted like a liquid form of my Mom's homemade peanut butter cookies. Yeah, that just doesn't sound quite right but it is quite good and I'll buy it again.

So what have other beyonders bought and tried and found to be much better than they were expecting?

Walmart potato chips. Fairly certain they're just Lay's at 1/3-1/2 the cost.

Screamin Brothers dairy free frozen treat. They're actually excellent. Almost better than regular ice cream because it's dense as hell.

Love the thread Speedog. Cheap eating would be another good thread.

Anyway, $5.00 for a 12" pizza loaded with REAL toppings? (not tasteless meat and cheese like just about everywhere.)

So eventually I tried a few more of the pizzas and was impressed on the price VS quality ratio. So yes, there's hope in the world:)

The link also shows square pizzas made by some Mil something dude. I tried the chicken and veggie, and well, no.

Bought some 'peanut punch' after seeing this thread and I have to say it ain't bad at all. I also ended up picking up some random Jamaican drinks so we'll see how that goes.

Fried SPAM over eggs and garlic rice. My childhood.

Also, PALM corned beef rules all.

As for trying things in a whim: Pocari Sweat. Wtflol

Please elaborate on the specifics. Tasteless. Crust was soggy.

This is a very common problem with fresh pizzas that sit on the shelf. The tomato sauce's water seeps into the crust and permanently ruins the pizza.

Way back when I worked at Pizza 73, the pizza guy had 45 seconds to assemble a pizza before putting it into the oven. Any longer and the crust stood a very good chance of being soggy no matter what.

I'm surprised you eat them, the animals the meats were made from were vaccinated.

So far from Walmart house brand. .

Gourmet Jellybeans
Ice cream sandwiches
Cheese flavored canned chips

Do not like any of their cookies I've tried. ..
