Hello beyond its been a while but I know you are there for me.

I'm currently in the market for a new vehicle; throughout my driving life i've always owned American luxury however I'm considering a change or maybe not, thats what I've come to you.

My two choices are as follows:

2016 Cadillac CTS 3.6 Luxury Edition AWD

or

2016 BMW 428i xdrive coupe or grand coupe basic

Both of the vehicles will cost me the same, however the 428i's price will increase by $8000 if I want to add similar upgrades as the CTS, however it still won't have nearly the level of bells and whistles.

After test driving more its obvious the CTS has a set of balls way bigger then the 428i however the 428i's drive is more "sporty" whereas the CTS provides a smooth quite drive. I'm ok with both drives.

Apple car play makes me want the CTS, thats the only edge right now, other than that I'm completely torn.

What would you do?

I'm biased here because I absolutely love the 4 Gran Coupe. Best looking 4 door coupe out there, so I say go for the BMW 4GC.

I vote BMW as well, shocker.

428 is a great car and will likely hold its value MUCH better than the caddie. Options are nice but I would go for more car over more options every day of the week. Used market also reflects that sentiment when it comes time to sell.

Another vote for BMW, no contest IMHO. Just having to deal with the CUE system would be enough to keep me away. Resale on the CTS is pretty poor as well if that matters for you. Better transmissions in the BMW as well.

Jesus, did not expect this.

The BMW just seems to base and small...... but the exterior is def something.

BMW GC is pretty awesome. Digging that hatch trunk door.

Have you considered the ATS? It's a closer competitor to the 4-series size wise and should be a much sportier drive than a CTS. It's also cheaper to boot.

Just because you have had other American luxury before, try a German one this time. Variety is the spice of life, after all.

I am a huge fan of the CTS and have owned 2 previously. There are pros and cons to both. The CTS would have a comfier ride vs the BMW and that is what I loved about mine. The BMW I would imagine would be a much sportier car. Resale is awful on new Cadillacs ( I bought mine used, 2-3 years old with approx 30k for less than half of what it was worth new).

I have tried liking BMW but I always find their interiors are boring and seats are not what I would call luxurious. Keep in mind I have mostly compared 3 series BMW's and have never sat in or driven a 4 series.

My suggestion is give them both a good test drive and play around with the bells and whistles and see which suits your lifestyle and preferences better.

If I were you, I would ask if the CTS can be leased for 2 years for $450-$500/month.

If not, get the BMW.

CTS is more comfortable but it has freakishly small cup holders for a big car. The apple car play is nice but the HU screen is very low grade and you can't see shit on it if you wear polarized sunglasses.

Interior, CTS has a slight edge but not by much. CTS looks great for the most part, just don't look up to the sunglass holder area. BMW is typical BMW, its interior is middle of pack in term of quality of all cars out there.

Thanks for the reply!

The best deal I've got so far is a used 2016 428i xdrive GC with all the options for 47,000 +GST.......

How does that sound?

I'm hesitant cause its lost 1-year of warranty and service.

^ if that is at a dealership see if they will make it a CPO. You then get a fully transferable extended warranty from BMW.

Personally for whichever way you go, I would get the vehicle as loaded as possible. Nothing worse then regretting not having an option later on.

Good luck, both are good cars.

2017 Mercedes c-class coupe. Is there a better looking coupe on the road?

New B9 A5 if you like sharp edges over Mercede's curves.

Just walk by a M2 today and that's a gorgeous little thing too.

leasing, financing or buying out?

If lease payment is significantly lower, i'd go with the CTS. Otherwise, 428 is the better car.
