Dammit! :banghead:

Got up yesterday after sitting in one position for too long and got that light-headed dizzy feeling, and my hearing went kind of cloudy. It sort of went away except for a distinct pulsating "wooshing" sound. I kept thinking our dishwasher was on. It hasn't gone away. The only way I can get rid of it is wearing ear buds and listen to music. Which I did all night in order to sleep.

Am I cursed with this from now on? It's been about 15 hours so far. No change.

You don't have tinnitis, those of us that do know it is not what you are describing.

Dave you are describing labyrinthitis (or inner ear infection/bacterial issues) or could be something far more serious. Head to the ER.

I had the same symptoms plus massive vomiting five years ago, noticed it while changing car headlight bulbs, could not get anything to line up correctly and bending over made me fall down. Went to the ER, they fast tracked me in (no wait so you know it could be fucking serious) for tests from a heart attack to possible brain issues (MRI).

Yep, this.

I get tinnitus multiple times per day (in conjunction with visual snow symptoms) and it's not as you've described. I'd be seeing a doc right about meow.

Tinnitus: (https://canadianaudiology.ca/for-the-public/tinnitus/)

Tinnitus is the term used for noises or sounds which are heard in one or both ears or in the head which do not come from an external source. They are often described as a high-pitched ringing but can also be described as a buzzing, hissing, pulsing, whistling, roaring, or various other sounds. Tinnitus can be very mild in loudness and only noticeable in a quiet room or it can become extremely loud and annoying to the point where the sufferer hears nothing else. It can be present all of the time or occur intermittently.

It is often described as a ringing, buzzing or pulsating sound in the ear,

The sound may be a ringing, whistling, or rushing sound

Take care of yourself Dave. Infections of this type are nothing to fuck around with. Can create serious complications if ignored.

You don't "sitting in one position for too long " and discover tinnitus. You know the exact place and time when it happened. And there is no "light-headed dizzy feeling".

Thanks to The Tragically Hip and a very poor sound in house sound system in Banff, I have a minor case of tinnitus. You just know.

Dave, can I have your camper and SUV if you don't go to the ER? Seriously, get to it.

The minute I stood up. That's when it happened. I was in my office. In the corner, over there --->

It sounds like you are in denial, fine you are one of those people. Go to work, but first set your phone to call 911 and request EMT for an hour later. Or if you are heavily life insured, work on as the family wants new vehicles and that cabin you've been meaning to buy one day.

Can you afford to be even a little wrong here?

Well that's kind of ironic. Last week (a couple of days after watching Sig Hansen of Deadliest Catch go through a massive heart attack while being filmed) I started to get chest pains.
"Hey Hon, I've got some heartburn". I'd never had it before, so that's what I assumed. She gave me some antacid. It got worse. I couldn't lay down. I got worse still. Having a hard time breathing now. The pain was a "10", and I have a fairly high pain tolerance. I was looking exactly like Sig. Wifey said "Fuck this" and called 911. I tried sending the EMS away but they were having nothing to do with that. They said "You don't fuck around with your heart". Gave me some Nitro and the pain subsided. Spent the night at Rockyview and gave me a shitload of tests. Everything came back "A-OK". Doc said it was probably bad heartburn. Got out at 5:30 am and went to work. Against doctors orders.

Seriously though, I will get it checked out. I appreciate the advice and concern. Pisses me off though. I don't have time for this shit.

I didn't ask if I had it.
That's why the thread isn't titled "What do I have?"

Me neither.

There was a time in which I thought I was indestructible, but now, my body is starting to fall apart. When it comes to the point of being a burden, I'll kill myself.

Yupp, not tinnitus - I've had tinnitus for a long time now, can't even remember when it started. Been to the doctor and specialists and am just living with it. It would be quite something to experience total quiet but that's just not ever going to happen again.

I've also had it for longer than I can remember, the past year in addition to the ringing I've started to have low frequency noise as well, a pulsating. Having both sucks when you want to lay down.

Have you tried acupuncture? I've heard this can hep and I'm going to try it soon.
