Wondering if anyone saw anything as to what happened. So our car, a white Audi A4 was parked in the first spot at the intersection of 16th ave and 4th street SW, just outside of crown and rose on 17th ave. We were parked between 5:30-7:30pm today Oct14 for dinner. Came back to find our drivers side windows smashed. Nothing was stolen from the car tho. We were parked in the first spot in a well lit area. If it was theft, wouldn't they have picked somewhere darker? Anyway, looking to see if anyone perhaps in the area that happened to have seen anything. Please send me a msg if u did!
Thanks!

CK

Is it just me or this is happening more frequently? Sorry to hear. It's so annoying to deal with.

I was trying to point out the OPs odd username but maybe I misread it.

Knowing the area, you definitely don't want any exposed valuable regardless of how well lit it was.

But since you have nothing stolen, that's kinda odd.

Double check for smaller items missing, like a single credit card or a garage door opener. The smarter criminals use this technique to make it appear as vandalism.

We thought of all possibilities. Our car was spot clean inside, nothing valuable exposed. I was parked very nicely. They only broke a small hole big enough to put hand in to unlock the door. But our car door was still locked when we got back. Nothing missing. Pure vandalism it seems.

Do you mean 15th Ave? There is no 16th downtown.

Theft sounds unlikely, too light out and witnesses. Vandalism is possible with a sling-shot. Normally you'd do this at night for cover.

Could be an accident as well, a small sized stone is fired across the street by a vehicle driving over a bit of the stone. Just enough downward pressure to fire the stone outwards. I've seen this a few times before while riding my bike (time to observe and going slow enough to see it) the stone is fired out sideways at a very good velocity.

I had an act of vandalism in my BMW days, two side windows smashed (nothing removed) by what the police said was the ceramic from a spark plug. Was told the ceramic piece is thrown at the window and it smashes easily. Idiots strip the plugs of the ceramic and have a nice bag of them for use whenever they wish. One could ride a bike all day long tossing ceramic pieces at cars.

16th Ave is where the angled parking is. Someone backed straight into my passenger door and took off a few months ago.

Yeah, pretty off colour but I assume he is referring to the op's user name.

Still, not good.

Oh okay, I'll cut him some slack then...

I make jokes about the 3 O's but using a term like that out of nowhere is ridiculous...

This could have been it. I've witnessed a store window smashed by a rock driven over by a transit bus.

I had it happen to my car. Pretty sure it was just a rock that got shot out by a passing car.

In my case, the window wasn't even fully broken, as in the glass completely shattered as it was designed to and stayed in place until i touched it.

Maybe give the interior a look for a pellet?
In Lethbridge awhile ago someone went around a bunch of neighborhoods with a pellet gun and broke dozens of people's windows for shits and giggles.

Probably just a rock though

Yea would be some pretty decent force to go through and I would think the rock would be inside the car if it put a hole in the window.

My Jetta window got shattered by a city lawn mower tossing up a rock (I assume) and it didn't go all the way through.

Drunk douche proving to friends he could smash a window? I know I've thought about it after way too many beers. But it's always my own cars hahaha

I had my window busted by an airsoft gun a couple years back, tiny hole, i didn't know wtf it was, until i was vacuuming the glass and found a little neon green ball.
