Some of you may recall ( but probably not ) that i got a racing ticket earlier this year. Many of you told me to fight it, which I wasn't originally going to do, until I found out what my insurance was going to be like with that ticket on my record.

Well, after months and months of being delayed, it was finally settled in court.

A "race on hwy" ticket, with a 172 dollar fine and 6 demerits, was reduced to "making excessive noise with a motor vehicle" and I still pay the fine.

Total spend, around 300 bucks for the points lawyer, and the 172 dollar fine. So for under 500 bucks, my insurance doesn't double.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

I just wanted to say thanks to all those who pushed me to fight the ticket. :)

Now I think I'm gonna go buy a lottery ticket while I'm on a roll. :D

My buddy just got pulled over couple of days ago ,Him and another car were speeding my cemetry hill on mcleod and the light was just turning and they both when through. Well a cop pulled them both over and they were both going about 130 in a 60 zone .But all they got tickets for were no registration and no insurance in the car. They both got $59 tickets ,they were both lucky.

That's the exact same location i was busted. But it was off a red light, and the "race" never reached more than 60 or 70 kph. And it was 3 cruisers, not just 1 that pulled us over.

I have to watch out now. I forgot that my license expired today...Suppose I gotta make a trip down to the registry now before I busted for that!

hey quick question, can points do anything for my friend? he was going 180 in a 110 zone, but the cop dropped it down to 50 over...can he fight this in any way or should he just plead guilty??

If the cop was nice enough to get him to 50 over than he should just take it like a man and pay it. IF the cop left it as is, I think it's automatic court date and he'd be dead meat.

Congrats man!

Next time try go without Points Lawyers....

When you go for your first appearance, ask to speak with the Prosecutor. Tell him your story...and pray he does something for you. If that fails, then you plead not guilty, go to points...and fight it that way.

In my case I was caught doing 139km/h down Beddington Trail (posted 70km/h). I was given a ticket for $189 along with 6 demerits.

I went in and talked to the prosecutor...told him I dont think I was actually going as fast as the officer stated, mind you I was by a long shot!

As soon as I said that...the prosecutors reply was, "yeah sometimes police radar isnt very accurate". He asked me if I would settle with a speeding ticket for 20km/h over instead along with 2 demerits. I obviously jumped at that!

In the end I paid only $76. :) And I got 2 months to pay it to boot!

From now on, every single ticket I get I will go talk to the prosecutor first. :)
