The problem with that ultra modern look is that it looks dated in 2 years.

That isn't even ultra modern.

It is like someone wanted to live in an Earls restaurant.

Lol at the new release section at blockbusters. But to each his own. Looks like they made that house their own and enjoyed living in it.

It is quite overpriced tho. No one is going to pay extra for that.

Modern design isnt the issue, gumball machines and 60 pixel city skylines for wallpaper are a few of them

That look would probably be not even that bad in a house that's 5x the size (aside from the sbux sign). It seems like they saw/came up with these ideas that would be suited to rooms much bigger than they had to work with (bedroom with basketball court floor, that round table thing with huge lights in the kitchen, the big counter top wine rack, etc etc).

They'll probably absolutely take a bath on the money they put into that thing. What a silly house to do that with.

This is why you invest in a designer, people.

Yes on the size thing. It's all jammed in there

They really need to move into a downtown highrise, so they can get the REAL look of a cityscape.

I could be wrong but thats not modern....to me modern is simple, consistent and minimal.

The first pic isnt that bad, fireplace with painting - but the second just throws it right off.

Having a Sbux sign over the kettle, giant gumball machine - tacky.

They could have probably gotten 30-40k just by some new paint and losing some of the tacky decor.

Definitely not modern. I don't know if you could really give it a style. There is so much different shit going on here. :nut:

:dunno: not my taste but at least it has some "character". They obviously loved the place and made it their own. They do have a few cool pieces in the pictures but it seems they tried to make a $600k home look like a $6mm mansion.

That isn't modern. Modern refers to design and architecture from the era of the Bauhuas Art School founded by Walter Gropius that was typically based on clean and minimalist lines with monochromatic schemes or simple, shots of contrasting colour. This is more contemporary...lazy contemporary but yeah... I feel they used all the wall graphics because thy just weren't capable enough to get the room to come together with all the contrasting styles they tried to put into one space. Too much of one thing is never good.

The dining room table is kinda cool...

But they clearly spent all their money elsewhere and definitely not on a nice shower.

I like the job the artist did making the brick wallpaper look 3D, I just can't think of a good room that it would fit in, maybe a garage :dunno:

What's with the gumball machine fetish :nut:

That's much closer. My tastes tend to be a mix of modern and contemporary. I find modern design a bit too sterile for my tastes....but I do love the furniture based out of that movement.

I have a few pieces.

WTF, two S'bux signs in the kitchen + gumball machine?
Also ditto on the wasted money.....I literally went  when I saw the bathroom.
Love the backyard though, looked like wifey wanted bar patio type of deal and then husband has to class things up with the massive Gatorade barrel
But seriously, what's with the weird AA circle of red chairs that look like its stuck in a forest?

Really? I thought it looked super ugly. The basement looks generally ok, and then they have this grimy ass wall... Definitely not for me.
