Mini Cooper Questions

Hi Everyone,
I've read a lot in recent years that the Mini is one of the worst cars in terms of quality, I'm looking at the new 2017 models and wondering what your thoughts were?

Some of the reasons I want the Mini:
HUD - it's neat and cool
Styling
Low to the ground ride

is there another car that you might recommend? I do like to have a fun ride, but in a fairly luxurious compartment.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I don't have too much personal experience with the Mini's, however, my sister in law has owned a 2010 version for several years now and not once has she had any issues other than regular servicing. And for about 3 years it was kept in Winnipeg and used over the winter as well. It has also done a couple of Calgary to Winnipeg trips.
