LF: teeth whitening recommendations

Would like to get my teeth whitened in the next month, looking for recommendations on places/people to go to.

Are certain methods better than others? eg. zoom whitening vs trays with the liquid/gel

My dentist recommended AGAINST his and other dental whitening services, saying they cost too much and provide too little.

He recommended the Crest white strips for the best bang for buck, ease of use and health.
