Did you try the "Dehaze" slider in Lightroom? It should help add some contrast/pop to those.

I did, but it was a pretty dense fog, and my sl1 was slamming against the ISO limit I set, lots of noise from that sensor. Iirc a lot of those shots were hitting 1600-3200 iso, I brought down shutter speed as much as I could with a 400mm lens, but it was a tricky day
