04 F150 remote start no crank

I've got a factory Code Alarm remote start in my F150. 2W7J19G367AA
The four button fob locks and unlocks the doors fine. When I push the start button it powers up like it is going to start and then shuts down. It repeats this five times before it gives up. Anybody familiar with these know what is going on?

Something wrong with the PATS bypass. It will start if I hold a key up to the column.

did you do anything to the Pats system? new keys? the factory bypass is pretty simple, power and ground. tic-tic looking like black box should be near the steering colum. (assuming the truck didn't lose the programmed key)
