LF: Cheap Car <$1000

As the title states I am looking for a cheap A to B, safe, but can need minor work vehicle for my son, only caveat is it has to be under $1000. Budget is not going to be stretched.

I have a toyota maxtrix I could sell for $1000.

its manual transmission 299k (odometer stops tracking at 299k on all first gen matrix)
runs and drives pretty good, tires are good
will need a windshield and the Check engine light is on for O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1.

A 2004 Saturn Ion. 2 owner car. Good enough for my kid.., actually it is nicer than I thought, and I might drive it once and a while. Suicide doors are well interesting lol. Thousand bucks couldn't go wrong. Cheers. Bourge
