yea it really depends, the del sol varies quite a bit on engine size.

Like wise with an Accord. Year?? Model?? 4cyl/v6??

It looks like he has a 2001 accord. So if it's a 4cyl stick then I think it would be close (straight line racing). But I'm pretty sure the 6cyl would kill a stock del sol.

I think it would really depend on the sol and the 2001 accord. If the accord was a dx, then its hp/torque to weight ratio would be piss compared to a sol's... a dohc vtec sol might even be able to take on the higher grade 4cyl engine... but then again that's just going by numbers

however, if it were on a maneuvering course, sol pwnz 4 cyl accord!! (w00tz)

the accord is a EX with a B-12 VTEC (150hp stock) and a del sol NON-VTEC he wont tell me what size engine but its a non vtec and i think its only SOHC even if DOHC it wouldnt have more than what 130hp? if that what do u think

gwkwan

hmm in this case
then i fink the accord would win
this is for stock vs stock

A non-vtec sol would die compared to the accord ex. The sol would be running 102 hp and 98 ft-lb of torque if it's a 1.5L and 106 hp with 103 ft-lb of torque if it's a 1.6L non-vtec. On the contrary, if the sol is a DOHC vtec, then it'd be putting out 160hp with 111 ft-lb of torque. If the sol is vtec, it'd eat the accord for lunch  Only vtecs come in DOHC, so I doubt it's DOHC, since he said it's non-vtec.

Goddamn bench racers. Why don't you go to the track and find out

The V6 Accord will beat a del sol. The accord will also kill a del sol at a 80km/h rolling start..

lol, ya which accord and del so r u talking about.. it all depends on who was wut under their hood... the dude with the Vtech or V6 would kill the other guy.. .. if they both have vtechs or both don't.. then it should be close

NO SHIT! haha..j/k

sorry, I just thought that was halarious.

But I'm pretty sure that the SOHC 1.6L 127hp engine is also VTECH. Isn't it?

Yeah, they still suck tho, so slow, hardly worth calling home about (VTEC not VTECH)

I certainly hope that you aren't talking about me, because I've been to the track several times... solo2 and drag...

I don't know about this... If the sol had a non-vtec engine, I doubt it would stand much of a chance...

I have a feeling that it'd start jumping around the 5000 range too... I think the SOHC starts going up at 5200

Yes, the Si model being 1.6L SOHC is also vtec. I'm sure it's 125 hp, but that doesn't really matter.

I'm not sure why you guys are bashing the DOHC vtec's torque... it was the highest powered stock civic until 99-00 when Honda gave the regular Si civics the 160 hp / 111 ft-lb torque. Hell, even the 2nd gen integra 1.7L GS-Rs only had 117 ft-lb of torque and 160 hp.

Honda's sports coupes haven't really been focused too much on the torque, and this has been obvious from their different models. I drive both a Nissan and a Honda, and both have their strong and weak points, so I tend to try not to bash cars or brand names.

Anyways, I agree that the real way to tell if that sol will beat the accord is to take it to the track. If the sol's non-vtec then I doubt it would have much of a chance... but hey, it also depends on the drivers and whatnot.

Whats with all this hype about Vtec? Its not that great. Vtec does not make a car fast.

True... it just makes it fast-er compared to a non variable valve timing version of the same engine. All major car manufacturers nowadays have their own version of "vtec". Nissan, toyota, you name it. Honda just markets theirs more/better.

Even started off the peak of the torque curve

Could be worse... it could be a 3 cylinder car ;) If you really want, throw in a b20b with boost in the sol and you'll be waving at ppl in ur rear view mirror :)
