I saw this on JDMSource.ca I was wondering if anyone could tell me any information about it. I didn't know that a "type-S" 220HP H22A even existed. Is it a straight drop in for a 5th gen lude?

yes. Straight drop in.
The Type-S is just a Type-SH H22 block and head with a better intake tract, TB, IM, more agressive cams, upgraded valvetrain, higher compression pistons, and a better header/exhaust system.

Thanks guys. Exactly what I was looking for. :)

That's a prime candidate for an engine swap if my motor ever goes!

Cool....try to find the JDM LSD Tranny w/ that motor, if your motor ever blows..

BTW are your running w/ the 9psi pulley??

I wouldn't use that engine as a replacement for yours. High compression motors and boost don't mix well, especially using just a VAFC as fuel management.
If you were to swap in this engine, you would need to get a new header and exhaust since the trannies are different and the base components wouldn't fit.
I would save my money and go with a regular H22a.

i would go with the type-S H22a, it doesn't really matter about the boost, as long as you switch to low compression pistons and etc... but ya... don't just stick that engine in and drive it, the boost will kill the engine.. o ya.. don't forget about the tranny..

I'm pretty sure richard is running an 8psi pulley

If your going to swap out the pistons, intake, header and exhaust (which Richardchan2002 has already done) then why not save your money and get a regular H22a and save yourself a couple grand?

could the h22a fit into a 97 1.6 el

With enough money and parts, anything is possible. There are already a few H22 civic hatches in Calgary so I don't think the swap is impossible into 97 1.6 el.

But the B series is your best bet. I'm pretty sure they would drop right in. Go B18C5!

Not arguing with what your saying, but just wondering isnt the H23 a better engine for boost compared to the H22a, or am i just miss informed?

jdmsource was 4000k us thats almost what the cars worth lol
funny how that happens so much, engine-mods worth more than the car,
going from an h22a to the little 115hp(or whatever it is engine just isnt gona do it for me

was also looking at the b16a G2 straight swap, would be pretty nice in such a light car

what would be the benifit of going for the B18C GSR ($2800) engine at 170hp and 128tq over the b16a Sir2 ($2000) at 170hp and 116tq besides the ovious couple tq for the extra 800$ US paid for the GSR
