Picked up a used vehicle and it seems from the pattern that the previous owner scratched the hood trying to wash/dry it. I can feel the scratch with my nail but it isn't too deep. Looks a bit worse in these pictures than it actually is. I think the scratch may only be clearcoat and not down to the paint.

I'd prefer to have a professional fix it than do it myself, although I do have power polishing equipment. I'm thinking wetsanding is needed and I'm not comfortable trying myself.

If you can recommend any body shops/detailers that I should talk to, please let me know. I'd be happy if most of it was gone but doesn't have to be perfect. Thanks in advance.

Try detailz - they do excellent work. That looks pretty deep though. It might just be the picture but it looks like it might be down to the primer.

As a general rule, if you can feel the scratch with your nail, it requires to be repainted.

You could make it look better with some light cut and polish but will still be visible.

You can also add heavy glaze method on top after the light cut and polish.

...BMW dealers to this a lot (or most dealerships) to hide imperfections only to show up after a few washes.

You'll probably have to fill the crack with touch up paint, wet sand it down, and then polish it back out. It won't look perfect but it will look a lot better than it does now.
