However, the province made clear that new taxes or powers — long a potential bone of contention — aren’t part of the new charters or the future fiscal framework negotiations.
yayyy

The cities will get new powers to allow variation under the Traffic Safety Act in areas such as speed limits, back-in angle parking and cycling infrastructure.

Nenshi said in an interview he will be interested to see whether the city council elected in October’s municipal election moves quickly to lower speed limits in residential areas, an outstanding issue for many councillors.

So happy I'm moving to the country. Fuck all these idiotic people that idiots elect to run our cities.

There are quite a few 40km/h roads already in town. So nothing new?

Yeah but they will probably push for 30 now for all communities from Nenshi's wording. Think of the children and all.

Why do city councilors love to make people hate them? They get elected in, and then do everything they can to make people regret it

Wait what? Where are you moving to?

Bought commercial property 40 minutes south o' deadmonton off H2. Might as well be an acreage, 1.5 acres. Deal's been done for a while, just signed off on the bank finance documents today while chilling in the Okanogan.

Come back to reality and the real fun starts Monday!

The whole school zone to playground zone and extended hours was just a warmup to a blanket 30km/h limit.

Yup, especially since roads went against city hall in changing the school zones to playground zones. Was supposed to be on a case by case basis. Aint nothing better than school zones during weekends and summer.
Probably have all the 30 signs in stock ready to go. If they stickers and school zone change cost what, $500k, can't wait to see the bill.

The extra revenue from tickets will far outweigh the cost of new signage.

That's the whole point. That is, money grab, not safety.

Druh has publicly stated that she wants 30 km/h in all residential zones.

I'm not rich enough to drive regularly through 40 km/h zones haha.

That's okay because you'll be cycling everywhere on the greatly expanded bicycle lane network.
