I got a question for everyone? Has anyone seen the silver VW BORA 1.8T? Its a silver Jetta that got laid! Its got phatty rims, a killer sounding exhaust, cool lights, the whole front end looks different driven by an old man! I seen it around and I talked to him for a bit, and he told me it was his car, but was really brief! Does anyone know what the BORA stands for?

Isn't that the European name for the Jetta?

Jetta = North America
Bora = Europe

Polo != Golf
Golf = Golf

Are you guys sure about that? What would the difference be then? Why would it be here?

Incorrect information. A Polo is MUCH different then a Golf. A Golf in Europe is still a Golf. A GTI in Europe is called a Golf GTI. But yes, in Europe (our Jetta's) over there are called Bora's! :)

Nothing, just the name. That guy rebadged his Jetta like most people in this city.

Yeah, the Polo's are a small car. I saw tons of 'em in England.

Putting a bora badge on your Jetta is false-badging and I hate it.

Sure, they are almost the same.. but the Bora is the european spec version, and should be distinguised as such.

There's nothing wrong with EDM badges.

So then back to my question. If the Bora and the Jetta have different specs, what is the difference? I still cant believe that RS6! I heard the M5 has a horrible ride, the audi and the Jaguar X type R are supposed to have much more comfort! But that could sequentially impact performance, but I dont think that much! BMW better come up with something quick! Jag and Audi are getting their name back in their territory!

The biggest (and mainly -- ONLY difference) would be the options. On the Bora's you can choose a V5, navigation control, a few different wheel styles... that's about it.

I have a German Bora brochure if you are interested in viewing it sometime!

The only differences are minor and cosmetic... I like when they are rebadged as bora's.... unless of course, they are riced out :(

qwesterra

I dont know what you mean by riced out? If you drop it, throw a phatty kit, phatty rims, change the lights, tint, drop it, things like that, the Jetta will still look hearty and solid! That is the way it was made, and it cant be changed....

So what do you mean by ricey?

liquid1010
10-03-2002, 09:14 PM
Well... I guess ricey is an overused term... nothin wrong with dropping and phat rims... but I mean like Nos stickers... neon stuff.... and big fins :)

OH! thats ricey eh? gotcha! What about Desert storm paint on a mini van?

If i'm correct,which i'm pretty sure "BORA" is a 4th generation jetta 3rd generation like mine is called a "VENTO"

VWhooligan

Yah, Jetta/Bora is 4th Gen, or "Mark 4". Vento is the Mark3 body style.
