Because I'm old and crusty, I have only recently started using Reddit. I quickly discovered most of the generic subreddits suck as I've discovered other smaller ones. So I figured, why not share some of the more niche subreddits that you frequent for entertainment.

I'll start. Reverse Animal Rescue: https://www.reddit.com/r/reverseanimalrescue/
Basically, animal rescue footage played in reverse leading to awesome thread titles like "Sicko forces jar onto Fox's head and forces it to retreat"

Not sure if this is considered generic but there's gold to be found in https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/

If you look at the top posts in the last month it'll give you a good idea of what to expect: https://www.reddit.com/r/tifu/top/?sort=top&t=month

r/barkour (https://www.reddit.com/r/barkour/) for our four-legged friends doing some pretty ninja stuff...

There's TONS of subreddits, just depends on what you're interested in.

I also enjoy r/NatureIsFuckingLit/ (https://www.reddit.com/r/NatureIsFuckingLit/) and r/Awwducational/ (https://www.reddit.com/r/Awwducational/)

The vast majority of interesting posts for me are generally a picture or gif, so now I just go straight to imgur or gfycat because I hate the liberal hive mind that is reddit.
Just add the /r/subredditname after imgur.com and or https://gfycat.com/gifs/tag/subredditname
e.g. https://imgur.com/r/barkour/

https://gfycat.com/gifs/tag/barkour

I was refuting your claim of learning from Reddit. Neither of them are a place to "learn". They are entertainment and bullshit, nothing more, nothing less.

It's not an academic place for sure, but I think you can still learn from it.

Plenty of subreddits provide information as a starting point for a variety of hobbies. Is that not learning?

I notice you on reddit or used to - you seemed to attract alot of downvotes in /r/calgary

although I find /r/calgary to be pretty negative maybe not a fair comparison to the rest of the city

I've learned tons of stuff on reddit, including tips to improve photo processing, web dev, SEO, etc.

Once you get beyond the "front page', Reddit can be a wealth of information. You just have to know where to look.

Absolutely. I found a lot of useful information when I was learning how to mod Nerf guns and paint them.

That said, I hate when I find a relevant thread on my topic and it ends before I get a complete answer to my question

i've been to a r/calgary meetup years ago. a lot of them are weird and entitled group of individuals. there were a couple decent people who were new to the city but i generally didn't find it like a group of people i'd want to hang out with.

i think i've see your posts and its hilarious how people get upset

My name is pretty common to be against the grain and cause people to go ape shit. Here is a good example...
