"Thomas Buttle, 33, was charged Thursday with possessing, accessing and making available child pornography to others."

When a cop breaks the law, the penalty should be 10 times harsher.

I think we need a dedicated thread for all the police officers getting charged.... it's too hard to keep up with them.

This is disguesting...there is no credibility for the police force. I understand he isn't found guility yet but to have paid leave is like a small vacation for this dirt bag. It would be much better if they suspended pay until the trial is over and dealt with.

but he's a cop he gets a free pass. Or as Phil would say he's not been found guilty so don't jump to conclusions yet.

It's just child pornography right??? Why be concerned if he's a cop?

Someone also mentioned this on reddit but I was under the impression that this clown was dealing with young kids (when I hear the word "child" porn).... but thats probably not the case.

I've had to deal with finding kiddie porn on a clients machine (a client who ended up dealing with the CPS) and that was - unfortunately - actual little kids (from overseas) - not teenagers.

You can make a case for every major metropolis L/E org. in Canada. Every city force could have their own thread at beyond.

I’m going to guess that’s part of the union agreement.

This part really got me. Poor dude.

"Buttle, 33, spent a night behind bars because of a glitch in the paperwork after his Thursday arrest."

Come on, man! I didn’t say that and no one else would either. Why the flying fuck would he get a free pass, especially as he is a police officer?! This kind of disgusting and awful stuff is zero tolerance for anyone, especially another police officer - period.

That’s a horrific offence and from someone in a position of authority and trust, it’s especially concerning if he’s a cop. Howevr, despite how much of an absolute total piece of criminal shit he may turn out to be, just like anyone who is accused of a criminal offence they aren’t guilty until proven in court. That’s the system, sorry dude. :dunno:

...or the Police Act, the Charter, and employment law. Thank the province and the federal government for that one.

cps seems to have a much higher number of officers getting charged based on all the news releases.

Which leads me to wonder how many Beyonders could potentially have been arrested for the old jailbait thread? Not that it was pornography (IMO), but sometimes it takes an arrest and courtcase to figure that out.

Is that an excuse for criminality now?
