Well, the Rockford Punches I have finally kicked the bucket, and I was looking into the Alpines.

I found a great deal on an Alpine 12" Type s with an Alpine Ported Box for $240 brand spankin new.

I know the Type R's are supposed to be kick ass, but are there any other subs out there I should maybe consider? around the 2-300 dollar range?

if ur going to go with alpine subs, get the "type-r's". hit a lot hard than the "type-s". i had "type-s" for a month, then traded them in for "type-r's". also, some times "JL Audio 10W3" are on sale for $300 @ SoundsArounds. Good sub too. Better SQ than "Type-R's", but the "Type-R's" will pound...trust me.

if u want to spend the money buy a mtx 8000...u might be able to get it around 300bux....if not ide go with a 6000...little more bass than the type s...but little less SQ...ide even go with a JL 12w3..one of my friends has one...great sub

damn, a 15 is a bit large man, doubt my amp will power it.

For 2-300, i'd look into getting a Type R (type s doesn't come close).

Also look online if you are interested in going that route, you can get some incredible deals on 10W3's or MTX8000 - they typically go for around $160cdn on ebay and they are damn beasts...15lb magnets! It comes down to your choice though!

The 350watts that I fed it seemed to do well.

there is not much difference between the type-s/type-r if its given equal amount of power each.

I'd go with JL audio. I Haven't had any probs with my W0's and they pound Ok. W7's  would be the sweetest.

But for the amount you wanna spend w3's are the way to go.

W7's are awesome!
thats what i want when i get a car thats actually worth doin up the sound system

they have the actual sized cone which is awesome...so when they say they are 12 inch...they have 12 inch cone, no like 10 inch cone with 2 inch surround.....and i love how the rubber surround covers the screws...so u don have to buy anythign extra
awesome subs!!!!

Benny,

My neighbour has 2 10'' Type-R's with a custom box from Future Shop (250 bucks). The sound is amazing. Before, he had a generic box, and with this custom box, the noise is absolutely awesome.

If I were to buy subs, I'd go with Type-R's or something made by MB Quart.

in all honesty i have installed a few W7's and they do not impress me at all , the W7 was a big marketing scam sure they are great subd but they are not worth the $1000 price tag. If you realy like JL audio subs get the mew W6v2 or even the W3v2 they are alot better subs for the money.

Thanks for the info, but I am really not interested in having "The Best" Just something that has decent bass, y know. I dotn want anything that hits so hard you ant breathe, just something that can handle the lows well. I like sound quality, not loudness. Those subs are OVERKILL!

I have a W7 in my truck and it outpounds most peoples 2 12's and it is only a 10" it is stupid loud and i cant listen to it too loud because it hurts the brain. the only reason they are expensive is because they are the shit! I plan on putting 2 more in and doing competition.

Benny, i have a pair of Planet Audio P-120x woofers for sale

they are good woofers but just aren't going to fit into my plan so I have to get rid of them before I could even use them!!! they are brand new but a year and a half old.

if you check out www.planetaudiousa.com they are almost identical to the competition series woofer... biggest difference is that mine have a silver mica injected cone

I'm only looking for about 160 + shipping for the pair when I paid almost 275.

and since I'm a newbie around here, I can understand if you may be hesitant to send me your money right now... so if you want we could do COD and split the cost.

LMK if you're interested... I have pics and reciepts as well

Cheers!
Joel
