The Vatican is not the Pope. A king can say one thing, and yet all the underlings may disagree - so who is right?

Even amongst Evangelical Christians there is debate about hell being a literal place no?... It can be interpreted as just being a place without God's help and love forever no? Which is what the Pope was trying to say...

Do you remember back when there wasn't an authoritarian police system/state to attempt to control how society behaved?

Pretty sure that's around when this bullshit was invented, it's hilarious how many people still let that fear ruin their life.

Bigger newspapers seem to have a 24-hour cooldown period on anything that could destabilize. However, you could absolutely take the popes words as saying that there is no hell, and possibly - no heaven. OR you could just say that good people go to heaven and bad people just dissolve into a puddle of nothingness.

Arguably, the notion of heaven and hell is one of the few things keeping religious zealots from eating each other - but I tend to think that very few people outside the USA are that religious. Japan has a strong notion of heaven and hell, spirits and ghosts.
