View Full Version : Anyone get a Tesla Model 3 yet?

I almost forgot that I had a reservation for one... made the reservation back over two years ago the day they made them available, just had to put down a refundable $1000 deposit.

I guess I'm close enough to the front of the line now that I am 4-8 weeks from delivery on the initial production models, which forces the $11,900 long range battery and $6600 premium package. All in it comes to $64,100.

Not sure exactly where I sit on this now... I have a F30 328i and just took delivery of a new Macan GTS. Now that the Model 3 has come out to be a $64k vehicle, I'm rather torn on what I want to do with it. If full self drive was available, that would change things as that's something new.

Anyway, attached are the configiration pictures in case anyone is curious what the Model 3 pricing options look like, I've taken screenshots and attached below:

I'm just thinking, Tesla and initial production model.. Sounds like bad news as I rather wait and see what issues might be coming up.

96 month financing @ 4.25%
Wow.

Buying a RWD Tesla in Canada is a terrible financial decision. If you're hard up on the Model 3, wait for the AWD version, but even more $$$.

$4000 Full Self Driving is basically throwing money away. It will never happen with this generation of hardware that's on the cars. Period.

At that kind price, get a used Model S AWD instead of the 3. It's a much better car than the 3 today. At the rate Tesla is updating the 3, it'll take a year before it'll be problem free. Just ask anyone with an Android phone and how tough it is to unlock the damn doors. No key fob, and an annoying credit card that you need to tap on the car to get in when the damn app doesn't work 90% of the time. Shit like that will drive you nuts. I'm sure it'll get fixed eventually though but why pay so much $ to be a beta tester?

Heh, I had to be talked off the cliff regarding buying a model S myself. I'm glad I listened to the advice I got in this regard, (Rage2, we took delivery of our LC500 last week, thanks again for all your help and advice).

Also, Tesla is in huge financial trouble, a fund I have a reasonable investment in is holding short positions on Tesla, big time, and rightfully so IMO.

This is a year old position paper, but IMO Tesla's financial outlook has gotten even worse since then. I'm glad I don't own one of their cars, and won't unless they somehow (magic?) turn the ship around. I love Elon Musk, SpaceX, etc, but they've really fucked things up on the Tesla side of the house.

Hah I was actually just talking to the SA I've been dealing with on finding a 718 GTS for the summer, toying with the idea but not set on it yet, and then the Tesla reminder came up! That being said, the Macan GTS is one hell of a vehicle. Easily the best handling SUV I've ever driven, hell better than most sport sedans.

Can you sell your reservation spot to somebody?

There are a lot of people that are hard up for these

Thinking about it. Either sell the reservation or wait for the 2019 base Model 3s and get a bare bones one for $46k.

Used model 3 should be cheap as shit in about 18 months. Buy it then.

Glad to hear! Post up a review sometime!

They'll never make a bare bones one in any meaningful numbers. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make them at all.
