DIY/self monitoring home alarm systems - which company to go with

Was initially looking for a professionally monitored system, but might give a DIY/self monitored system some thought.

For those that went this route, what brand/company did you get your sensors, cameras, etc from?

Looking at companies like abode, simplisafe, etc, although I think a few of them only cater to the USA.

Also interested in this. Particularly something with a traditional alarm panel style.

Currently I am just using a Honeywell panel with the monitoring turned off. Alarm sets off Nest Cameras on sound triggers which sends me the notifications. But something more elegant would be nice.
