+1 for Rainer @ SR International.

I have also had several good experiences at Detailz.

I used to DIY as well but the experience required to do a really excellent (and safe) job with paint correction and and with how time consuming detailing is in general, I think paying someone usually ends up being a good value.

What’s the rough going rate to get a car polished and coated? I’m going to have to strip off the PPF on my car and redo it and I want to have it coated since it sits outside.

gpomp here does an amazing job with paint correction and coatings. He's mobile so he'll come to you which is a really nice touch. He's the main guy I use for anything paint protection related.

Depends how much correction is required (Eg. Stage 1, Stage 2, etc.) If you are getting a ceramic coating though, a good shop will do a stage 1 polish just to prep the paint and ensure there are no contaminants, so that is included in the price.

If you give SR International a call or go visit them, they are good at educating you to pick the correct product. I believe they do all the work for Ferrari/Masarati Calgary so they are trusted with the most critical work.

When I was shopping, coatings were $600-1200 or so depending on the size of the vehicle and the product chosen, all-in including prep. The coatings themselves aren't very expensive if you are a DIY guy, a lot of what you're paying for I think is the prep.

Didn't realize gpomp did detailing. I might have to reach out to him since I don't seem to be in town enough to do it myself.

Nice. I don't use detailers much these days, but I have a very high opinion of her work and her excellent customer service.

x2 for Duncan, my only complaint was that he is so good he was able to uncover the fact my supra has been sprayed in about three different stages LOL

The last time I read about a groupon detail, the guy's car came back in worse shape haha. IMO anything that is very much dependent on skill, experience & time is likely going to be a rushed crappy job if you get it for cheap.

Jed (formally of Mobile Reflections) is the manager of the detail shop for Porsche now. We had our XC90 coated with Opticoat Pro+. He also did the ppf on the vehicle as well.

Super nice guy, it's just soooo expensive now that he works out of a Porsche dealer haha.
