Browsing Kijiji for potential replacements for my aging G37, I came across a 2012 X1 for $12,500...I remember the being decently fast the more I look at it the more I like the quirky looks and more utility than my G.

What are the pros and cons of this car? Depreciation is nuts even compared to 3 series of the same year.. what gives?

Not sure if it was X1 or X3s, but I read that the transmissions in those during those years were absolute garbage.

Ya since I made this post I decided I can'tdeal with a BMW with 160,000km on it lol especially notone I don't absolutely like, not something bland like this. This is way too much of a soccer mom car for me, the ad I'm looking ateven has a baby on board thing hanging in theback.

The X1 is a hunk of junk... I'd sooner buy a Kia Sorento than an X1

at least if it was an X3 it would have been a 2nd generation, which is alright. I'd personally still pass on it though.

I loved my 14 X1. It was a 35i so it had the old 6 speed tranny and the "E90" feel to it. I actually wanted to buy another one lol

They are a little less refined than any other BMW in the interior, but I loved driving mine...dinan stage 2

I was cross shopping a 2012 X1 and a 2012 F30 about 4 years ago, ended up with the F30 and was much happier for it.

Find one not belching blue or white smoke and maybe it would be a decent deal.

I would way rather have the E90 based X1 than the new one fwd based transverse one. Just like this is the only generation of 2 series worth having, not the new gen of glorified econobox BMW’s where the drivetrain is an afterthought. My parents have a ‘14 X1 28i and it’s been pretty great. Reliable, great in the winter, practical, comfortable.

It is a bit short on bells and whistles but if that’s what is important to you I recommend Hyundai.

The look of these is still growing on me strong....I tend to gravitate towards quirky looking cars. Surprised to see two completely opposite views on this vehicle. Guess more research is in order.
