Family is planning to go to Australia in February for 10 days, any recommendation on what to see and how to travel from city to city?
There will be 5 adults and 1 infant.

We are planning to land in Sydney, and right now we are just brainstorming what to see down there.
Wife wants to go see Koalas and the 12 Apostles by Melbourne.

Thoughts on driving along the coast from Sydney to Melbourne?
Or should we just fly from city to city?

Ayers rock has always been on my bucket list but doubt we can make it.

The drive down the coast from Sydney to Melbourne isn’t really that spectacular while on the road. Most of the time the highways are built quite a ways from the coast so your just driving in forested areas and not along beaches. One of the most notable stops along that route would be Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay which has a beautiful beach with the whitest sand in the world.Driving is a pleasure in Australia, just be careful of kangaroos and wombats as one totalled our rental vehicle while we were down there. Quite a bit to do in both Sydney and Melbourne, I would highly recommend going to Phillips island and watching the penguins come in at night, it’s awesome.

Thanks, what about Sydney to Brisbane instead?
Heard Cairns is nice but transportation to get all the way up there might be hard.

Really tempted on flying to Alice Springs as well, drive to Ayers Rock and spend a night.

Hyams Beach and Jervis Bay looks nice too, debating how I'm going to fit it on our itinerary.
Going further south, Camel Rock Beach looks nice

Cairns is nice and you can get cheap flights to get up there, but if you're only there for 10 days I wouldn't bother cause it doesn't give you a lot of time.

I went to Oz and we ended up in Adelaide and then south of there. Was a very nice and quiet part of OZ. It was during their winter though so it was much more bearable.

Eek! 10 days to do Australia?! My must do's for Australia are Melbourne/Great Ocean Road, Sydney, Uluru & Kata Tjuta and the Great Barrier Reef.

It will be hard to do Great Barrier Reef because of its location and probably not ideal with an infant. My itinerary would be:
Sydney
Fly to Alice Springs for Uluru & Kata Tjuta
Fly to Adelaide. Rent car and drive Great Ocean Road.
Melbourne

For koalas, drive down Lighthouse Road in Great Otway National Park.

It's like saying you want to see Canada or United States in 10 days. It's a ridiculous statement especially with a group including an infant. Just pick one or two regions within reasonable driving distance and stick to it.

Magnetic Island = good times if you're looking for other options further North.
