Mini-5series? Seems like another evolution rather than an all out design change. Interior looks more spartan. Did they get rid of the shifter and go with a push button transmission?

Edit: I just saw the rear.....meh..

No. Configurator like to hide some pieces. Shift stalk is still there. But expect similar to other recent releases which is basically a joystick.

Just like A4, didn't expect huge changes anyway.

Designers really have no where to go nowadays.

Congrats BMW on getting rid of your 2000's era interior and bringing it a decade up to the 2010's. 1 more decades to go to catch up.

Why is it called G20?
Because it is the Next Generation. E to F and now G

Haha! An accurate statement. Looks like I'll be passing on this generation of 3-series (again). I'm digging the X3 M40i. I guess like the rest of the masses I want an SUV.

Just like 205 (current C) and B9 (current A4/A5). It's a production code.

Regardless of model, BMW's simplified look has always been dated. And any model below 5 series has very poor interior material choices.

No way. 2000's era BMW's were well ahead of it's time. They just kinda stagnated and stayed in the 2000's for the last 20 years. Even this new G20 has design cues that originated from the late 90's era E46.

At that time BMW interiors were way ahead of everyone else, with its sharp edges and natural lines, while everyone else went with this weird ass bubbly look.

Here's what I'm talking about. 1999 BMW introduced the E46 3 series, the interior went away from the roundish E36 interior.

83458

Everyone else went crazy with the fucking bubbly interior look. Worst era for interiors.

Mercedes:
83460

Porsche:
83462

Audi:
83461

The Audi interior is the best of the worst IMO. But finally they updated the interior! Echoing rage2 sentiments

I always forget how recently porsche had really bad interiors. 996 is so bad. The 997 isnt much better.

Now that you said that it definitely looks big :). The rear looks like a Lexus.

Looks like BMW is betting on Android.........wrong move.

If you're talking about digital key, pretty sure they're using the digital key standard which has both Apple and Samsung on board. I'm guessing based on the fact that BMW is part of that standards group as well.

Yeah I am referring to the digital key. Based on the official press release they called out Samsung Galaxy running Android 8.0 or higher. Maybe it is just a marketing thing.

Probably v1.0 of the standard only available there right now. iOS doesn't support it at all even though they're part of the standards group.

They don't know what the heck they are doing. Keys on Samsung only, supports only Carplay.

So whoever you are lending your car to have to mess with your GPS.

They claim 121 lb lighter but listed as 40 lb heavier.

I'm pleasantly surprised BMW finally updated their interior design. As for the exterior styling it's okay. Nothing earth shattering. Maybe looks a tad classier.
