Hey Guys,

I'm trying to do some analysis and I need 2013->today WCS prices in CSV / excel format. Finding this in WTI isn't an issue but WCS has been. Closest I've got is from the Ab Gov site, but it is only monthly data it appears and I need daily (opens or close).

http://economicdashboard.alberta.ca/OilPrice

Anyone know where / how I could get it. I'm already on page 3 of google, so all hope is lost.

Sounds like it’s too late, didn’t see this, but for future reference all the major reserve auditors have forecasts (and historicals) for a number of product streams publicly on their website updated at least quarterly. Sproule, GLJ, McDaniels are good ones to check out.

I won’t comment on forecast accuracy, but it’s a great start for differential work.

Similar question. Does anyone have a good source for current and or historical steel prices?

ZenOps has nickel and dime prices so he probably has steel.

I feel like that question was already answered just a couple posts up.

Literally the first google hit - 10+ years WTI, FX, and WCS settles by month:

http://www.baytexenergy.com/files/pdf/Operations/Historical_WCS_Pricing_October_%202018.pdf

Daily data or more detailed is harder to find.

Bump from the dead.

Does anyone have current access to DAILY WCS pricing? From the above links I have found monthly up until March 2020 but not much for daily data.

thanks in Advance.

Like downloadable? Or just to view? Bloomberg has viewable data: https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/oil#/WCS_Crude

You can get the daily settle price for WCS from https://economicdashboard.alberta.ca/OilPrice

If you want real time pricing information, oilprice.com usually has it but not the settles.

Downloadable if available. Looks like I might just have to hand bomb it from Bloomberg or oilprice.com

Pipes aren’t full anymore. Diff only existed at such a big level because there was more Canadian heavy than shippers knew what to do with.

That’s been the Crux of the “we need more egress” argument for like 10 years.

Exactly. The differentials shrink when oil is lower because there will be less profitible production. The pipeline companies aren't even doing any apportionment (giving you less throughput that you ask for). Right now, you want throughput capacity, you get it.

I was quickly comparing the Bloomberg link from above and Oil price.com and there is a huge deviation in listed price. Can anyone explain?

Oilprice.com : Western Canadian Select -2.620 (10 Hours Delay)
Bloomberg: Western Canadian Select Crude (USCRWCAS:IND) 6.35

a couple of things may be at work. 1) not all sites report prices with the same frequency. Oilprice has a massive delay for WCS. 2) there's more than one price for one commodity. There's contracts for different delivery months. Most places show the "front month" but some show spot price, some show some kind of average thing. it's kind of confusing.

A lot of places also don’t update the diff in real time but calculate it based on real time WTI. This works if the diff is rlseively stable but right now it really isn’t.
