I recently bought a Lexus IS250- I know there was a handful of service done at the dealer however as I have heard before the dealer will not share the records due to confidentiality. Is there any way to get the records for the car? Could really car less about the past owners info, I just want the records!

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Ask them to cut out the owners info when they print them out?

Sign up for the Lexus Drivers page with the VIN. I was able to get our LX570 service history before I bought it.

Good suggestion, thanks. Just tried that and there was no service records available, not really sure why as I have some of the records and verified others and they didnt even show. I guess my only option is getting a dealer to print them and remove the personal info- they dont seem super accommodating on that though.

Got records for the first time ever for my GLK from Lonestar. Their idea of removing confidential info was whiting out the previous owners name and address lol...

Dodge 3/4 and 1 ton trannies are total junk. Good luck Corey- you going to muscle it in yourself or pay to have the work done?

I've just called in the past and have had good success. Never had much kickback. I wanted a master service Inquiry (I think that's what it's called) for a Mercedes and had it faxed to me in two mins.

I've had good luck in the past with going to the dealership and politely talking to a service advisor when they're not busy.

craigcd, send me the VIN and I'll run it thru the driver's portal when I'm logged in. Maybe that will uncover it.

When I asked, LoC was more than happy to give me the service records for the is300 I picked up from a member here. The only thing was it was a giant print off that just didn't have any owner on it, rather it was a sequencial print off of each service done and mileage at the time as well what was done. :dunno: that was only a few years ago too. Maybe changed now?

My sister sold her rx350 a couple years ago and the buyers took it to royal oak lexus for an inspection and they wanted the service records but lexus would not give it to them. My sister even called to say it was ok but they would only print it off for her if she was there at the dealer

We bought our pre-owned X5 from Calgary BMW but the car was from originally serviced at an Edmonton BMW dealership. Calgary BMW just told me to call Edmonton directly and try my luck. I called and the lady at the service department was super helpful. She wasn't able to print and email me all the service records due to confidentiality, and she went through everything over the phone with me line by line for all the services ever done on the vehicle. It was great.

I just called over and I was told that I'm required to request it in person with a copy of my drivers license and valid registration

I will rebuild my first trans myself this winter. I have a 3' x 4' ss pan. stick that on the welding table and it shouldn't be too bad. Build it up. I'm too far in to go back now I think lol. I have cheap and good r&r, parts are cheap etc.

It may not be something a lot of people would tackle but i'm game. I have a machine shop. If I can't do this i might as well change hobbies haha

Truck still has first and reverse so i can still move it around a bit this winter. Its parked in front of my house, i bought a x-terra so hopefully were good

If it’s an automatic you will want to build a vertical stand for the rebuild. Most are like the kids toy where you stack all the rings and make a pyramid.
