View Full Version : Am I getting old? I looked at a Camry...thoughts?

I have always thought of the Camry as an old man's car, but while checking out the new Accord 2.0t sport I happened by the Toyota dealer and something caught my eye. The new Camry XSE V6, it had the white pearl paint, black roof and red interior. Am I alone in thinking the XSE is a really sharp car?

I've wanted to try the 2.0t accord since I heard you get the 6speed manual, and it's a quick car, but the Camry actually surprised me, never thought I'd say that..85029

All these cars are solid. Not old, simply practical.

It is the best-looking Camry I've ever seen, I'll give you that.

Do they come with park sensors now to eliminate the Camry bumper dent problem?

I actually don't mind the styling of these cars as the white looks good with the black contrast. It's a reliable competent car that looks decent so I can see the appeal. I'm just not ready to succumb to a car like this. Maybe in 20 years.

I was actually quite surprised by the looks of the new Camry. The one with the quad exhaust. It's a gorgeous looking car and makes me almost want to own a Camry. Haha.

Camry looks good but the accord drives better imo

Too bad that a Camry 6-6 isn't available. That would fill the recent gap in the market. I agree that those are sharp looking cars. Much more visually appealing than the 10th gen Accords. But the Camry name has to go. Camry just makes me think of my late grandmother and her penchant for champagne toyota sedans, bridge and brunch sundays. Nothing sporty about the Camry name.

Completely agree, the name could have been changed. I can't imagine your typical Camry buyer would look at this model, but its nice to see Toyota making the car less vanilla, and they did a bang up job. You are right about the transmission, I like that they kept a V6 option, but wish you could get a manual, even if it was just am option on the XSE V6.

It looks great.

But I bet it still drives like a Camry (i.e. like a shopping cart crossed with a sofa).

There is a 2020 TRD version that will probably pretty sporty. As sporty as a FWD family sedan could be.

Toyota has made a promise to stop building boring cars. I think this new Camry is an attempt at that. It does look quite a bit sharper, but if I had to choose it would be Accord hands down personally. Camry probably gets slightly better fuel mileage just going by history.

Just looked at the pics of the TRD, wow, hopefully it looks like that when it hits the floor. I would drive one, maybe minus the rear wing

Old? Fuck, most of you aren't even middle aged yet. My parent's are old but they are in their mid-80's.

Shit, the next thing y'all will be debating is the best brand of prune juice.

The re-design is pretty sharp. I'd consider one. 301 HP and 8 speed trans. Already beats my Q50

Yea the corollas and the camrys are suddenly head turners with aggressive styling and features. If only they had a coupe version of each :(

I did a full-load V6 XSE build online and it came to something like 42k ..... which, to my non-new car pricing ideals, seems pretty reasonable.

Honda has failed dismally in this regard and is now the 'old man' car (at least by me.... lol).

Must have been after they approved the Supra design. I tell ya, if that thing doesn't drive at least as great as a 12/10 chick on the crazy/hot matrix fucks it'll be the biggest letdown of the decade.

My wife spotted a new Camry parked next to her, she was wondering what kind of new sport sedan from AMG or BMW .. (she likes fancy cars, but doesn't know car much) my 4 year old son told her it was the new Camry with "Toyota Safety sense) ... she couldn't believe, and told me at nite our son mixed up Toyota vs Benz/BMW ..

I showed my wife photos of new Camry online .. so she knew she was wrong, and our son was right .. That Sexy sports Sedan is a TOYOTA CAMRY!!!

But I asked her if she wants one .. she said NO ..:face palm: (even she is a chinese C9)

I agree with others that said if they re-named it, it would have been much better. Camry just will have that negative connotation attached with it no matter how sick they make the car look.

Looks too much of a boy racer - tries too hard to be a sports sedan.

Repeat "I drive a Camry" in your head a few times, that's when you snap back to reality.

The Accord 2.0T Sport drives better IMHO, has a nicer interior, and the torquey 2.0T is a lot more fun than the Camry's V6. It also doesn't pay the same HP penalty at Calgary's altitude. That is definitely the best looking Camry I have ever seen though - looks better than the Accord.

I bet it's not an actual quad exhaust, probably just tips. Even high end German cars are using fake tips these days.
