190hp.....Now all those neon metal winged, chrome fender flaired, neon lisence plated, gold wiper uni bladed, chrome hub-caped, rainbow tinted muther f**kers are going to give us a run
for our money.... 190hp NEON ... WHY ... Imagine, driving your
SIR civic, GSR integra, celica, BMW, 240sx... and getting your
ass wooped by a NEON...:(

It's 215 horses, 245 lb/ft torque.

this is a smart move, its gonna improve the position that neons have...rather than a platform for rice its actually got some balls. :)

i'm not worried, and look at it this way, a lot of the neon people you know have no clue about their car right? so why not have some fun with them? if they get one, ask where the turbo is, and what does it do.
almost as fun as asking some guys what vtech does...
some of the answers i have heard would you make you laugh your ass off.

the turbo neon may have more power but it's still a neon none the less. personally I wouldn't be caught dead driving one, they are ugly as @$$ (no offence intended to those who drive neons or are getting neons, just my opinion)

some do know their shit, some have na neons that could stomp me, but do you know how funny it is to see someone who has no clue about his car say "the turbo is under the engine" or "this button turns the turbo on and off" and "Don't make me press the BUTTON!"

the mazda speed interests me.
garrett t25 ball bearing turbo, air to air i/c, limited slip, and more. sounds like a nice package if the get a good price on it.

leBarons V6??, and a spirit or omni still aren't that fast just because they are turbo's..

SRT-4 is in the econobox weight division of automobiles, but offers the most power for the price off the showroom floor.
Throw in RSX Type S, Celica GTS, SVT Focus, Turbo Beetle, MiniCooper S, MazdaSpeed Protege, Nissan SE-R Spec V and we got a rumble!
This will decimate all of the above for $30,000 or more (and if we have to, overnight parts from Japan)
And......it's still a neon. :burnout:
That is expensive, my spec-v is 22000!

you wouldn't think a van could be fast. and lebarons came with turbo engines.
trust me, the "old technology" turbo dodges are VERY mod friendly.

the guy got his daytona 2.2 tII into the 13's with the following...
3 inch exhaust - maybe 450 bucks
extra injector - 20 bucks
18 lb's of boost - no charge
diode - 36 cents
used slicks
that same engine is in lebarons, and some spirits (r/t's) have a much more potent engine capabel of mid 14's stock.
anything can be fast, there will always be something faster than you. if you don't like it, get more mods, or a faster car.

The thing to remember about the Neon SRT is they're only going to be making a few thousand of them (5,000 I think?). So the chances of seeing one around here will be slim...
Now the turbo MP3? It's only 170HP but it's a Mazda turbo and I'm all about that! :thumbsup:

Its the domestic cars (91is cavaliers, neons, berettas, sunfires) that do it at a far worse level than the import cars. Import cars may be fond of big kits and wings, but damn, you see more underglow and neon plate frames and nozzle lights and chrome hubcaps on the domestics fo-sho!
