Hey guys, I’m starting to hunt for a car trailer. I’m in a unique situation where I would like to haul two cars at once, combined weight approximately 4700lbs and combined length is about 24’8” end to end. I’ve got a bunch of ideas, but I’m wondering if it’s generally ok to have 1 ft or so overhang at each end of the trailer? I would be placing the heavier vehicle on the rear over the trailer wheels, with the lighter car up front. Most likely a bumper pull trailer but would consider a gooseneck as well. I can likely make a 24’ deck work with overhang but what are your thoughts?

Depending on the trailer, you may not be able to hang off the front much, especially with a goose neck. Hanging off the back a foot or so is fine.

Not much else to add.

Valid point. I have 12k lbs bumper pull capacity so I don’t necessarily need a goose neck. I’m also considering building my own version of a partial tilt deck, where the front car is tilted upwards and the rear car nose is slid underneath.

Tilt deck sounds awesome, but a lot more complex. I'm a simple man, I'd rather have a flat deck.

To get two cars on it, it’ll be a longer trailer regardless...I wouldn’t bother trying to save a couple of feet. So much nicer getting a car on a bigger deck.

And depending on how the front is built, you may not be able to overhang. Guess I should have looked more closely at ES’s post!

How about this...may be wide enough. Just needs Princess Auto fenders and maybe some lightweight aluminum ramps and you’re good to go.

@d.garage has started doing custom flat decks, super low for loading too. Maybe pick his brain on doing something custom

The axles on the trailers I am looking at are set far more to the rear, with the weight distribution it places the heaviest vehicle over the centre of the trailer axles and the lighter one up front adding tongue weight. I went to a trailer place today and they confirmed that’s the best setup.

Likely just going to buy a 26 foot deck with beaver tail and then build my own extended length ramps for loading.

Went big, thanks to another beyond member for the trailer. Tows like a dream, but probably will add rear air bags and some fresh shocks to my truck.

No apparently I paid extra for those decals :P

Will remove all except the Subaru outline on the rear door.

Where’s the best place to buy a rear airbag kit in Canada? Probably a good idea to level my truck properly and refresh the shocks before fully loading it.

Mopac usually has the Airlift kits in stock.

How much did the trailer run you?
