I was in an accident on Saturday. (1st one ever) against a BMW that has way more damage then me
My vehicle is old 2002 Harley F150 with low km 166k. Looks pretty brand new as it only goes out on weekends to get groceries. Damage to my vehicle is very light scratches like 6" before and after the wheel well. Easily buffed out to look the same as the rest of the paint. But autobody shop says to paint the box. Damage to the chrome rim and tire. The estimate is $1500. But insurance wants a write-off.
Looked on Kijiji and found my truck for sale twice in Ontario 17k and 28k for a low low km one and one in Quebec. 20k

I definitely don't want a write-off and contacted my adjuster who said she will get back to me later. Its the only vehicle and been paid off for like 10 years that runs perfect but with a dented rim. Do i fight with them to show the value?

So not only is the title vague, but it's also inaccurate.

Your truck may look fine but that shouldn't be your concern right now, whiplash accidents are no joke. Get yourself checked out.

Yes; most BMW drivers are assholes. Hope that answers your question.

Well, I got an email from the autobody place that did the estimate just now saying the quote has been approved and to order the rim and they will write me a check for the cost as it can only be found on ebay now. I'm so confused.

$1,500 or $15,000 damage? If it's only $1,500 then something doesn't make sense here. The general rule of thumb is that if the cost to repair is more than 75% of the value of the vehicle it gets junked.

Because it's a 2002 Ford F150 on the insurance. Worth $3K or less so write off...
The Special Edition Harley part is missing.
That's my guess.

Insurance pink slip shows it listed as Harley Davidson Edition. The insurance lady said it was weird that the shop got approval for the repair but I got an email saying total loss. Still waiting to hear back from her this morning.

Which is why I was shocked (but pleased), that they repaired $13.5g in damage to my $16g truck.

WTF. it was a glitch in their automated system they said. The vehicle will not be a total loss and going in for fix soon enough. Was shitting bricks all morning.
