So I have to ask..

What the heck is with folks converting vehicles to pickup trucks.

I have seen a few chargers converted in the US to pickup trucks and now a civic. Who is going to convert their merc or bmw into a pickup truck?

That Civic Ute was created 1-2 years ago.

BMW also did a E9X M3 Ute special for their collection as well years ago.

Poor man's Wrangler. All the utility and none of the cool. Add a rollcage and removable front doors and boom, there you are. Same powertrain and everything.

Co-worker purchased a 325I Sedan, and converted it to a pick up. Roll cage and all. Was such a hooptie. And then painted it bright yellow. Was a winter beater but ugh

They know they need/want something resembling a truck but their egos won't let them just go buy a normal pickup truck like a normal person.

I'm in Mexico working right now and those UTE style vehicles are everywhere.

Seems like every manufacturer has a version. The Dodge Ram Version looks sharp imo...

The Aussies love their utes but unfortunately in North America, the bloatmobile is the promoted choice for most consumers. Not surprised that a few paid insane amounts for a conversion.

For use within the city, trucks are a dumb idea overall, and the rest of the world seems to get this - just not here. Thats where the utes come in.

Low ride height, V8 with 6spd and a bed to haul things around the city.
