I'd like to get a world phone with 850 in it.. but none of the ones that are out currently appeals to me.. i'm going to keep my Z600 for a bit longer i think.. next phone i'll try and go quad band.

i have a triband phone, and i admit the service is somewhat decent, but i am just very unhappy with rogers service, and the fact that they signed me up ona 2 year contract and gave me a phone that lasted one year, its bullshit, im switching back to fido as soon as my rogers contract is up.

also i ave an s300 and thye are unable to activated gprs on it

Can't complain too much about Rogers, some spotty reception but things have improved since the switch to 850 Mhz. Been with Rogers for like 7 years and yet it's a struggle to get any decent deals on plans or phones without being nickled and dimed. Want to give Fido a shot, but lack a unlocked phone.

I agree, been with Telus for 5 years now...and not one major issue...I was with Rogers before Telus, and yes they have vastly improved the netoworks, as my lil sister has a Rogers plan and loves it...

Although FIDO has made HUGE strides in coverage and I think is still offering a really cool plan which is nation wide FREE Fido to Fido calling...ontop of local evenings and weekends and the normal stuff...

*EDIT* and rumour has it that FIDO is bringing out a plan/network that offers unlimited local calling, like the plans in the U.S. very shortly...like 5-7 months is what I heard...for around 60 a month...

i want fido for the free fido to fido, only phone calls i really make or receive when i am away from my land line is the wife... so it would be well worth it... right now we have a family plan on rogers, nearly $100 a month, and we are struggling to not go over our minutes.

When it comes to a provider i'd stick with bell, their reception is amazing. In a solid brick bulding i still get maximum reception, and i've even taken it tot he mountians and still perfect, but then again i'm pretty sure i have world wide service.

Yeah it's called City Fido. http://cityfido.ca/en/flash.html

I use Telus for my main line and Rogers as a backup. Rogers seems to have better signal strength but Telus has better coverage.

Fido with Pre-Paid Rogers for backup

People who want gadgets don't pick Telus.

Well im under 3 of the 4... Im on Telus, Rogers and Fido. To tell you the truth, coverage wise I like Telus the best, but for gadget freaks, Rogers and Fido let you do ALOT more with your phone than Telus ( ie. Download wallpapers for free, ringtones, etc.)

On Bell? No you don't. CDMA technology isn't that widely used. Also your Bell coverage is no better than Telus coverage in the west considering they use the same towers.

i'll never deal with Rogers again........service sucks. price sucks.......the main thing is receiption is FREAKING SUCKS. in N.W. area like edgemont, hawkwood area. windy weak receiption, raining talking like while driving, snowing......dont' even mention none receiption at all..............i'm sure not b'coz the phone, b'coz i've try more than 8 phones..........what the hell mean across canada. they can't even take care calgary within the city limit.........for the price and services i think Fido is better. although some location in south is kinda weak, but so far i never have any complain at all...........

Just a question. how do you know if your phone supports the new rogers 850?

I'm with Bell because I'm getting a good corporate plan.

But really, every provider sucks in some way:

Bell - expensive phones and not GSM
Telus - expensive plans and not GSM
Rogers - terrible customer service and crappy coverage (dunno about now)
Fido - bad coverage

The FIDO rep I spoke to said about 4-6 months, and it is working well in Van City, have a cousin who is a tester for City FIDO there and he says it rocks...

v60 doesnt support 850, i had one, and had no reception in my basement... my V300 rocks in my basement now and i can assume that my V600 will too :)

IF cityfido comes here there will be some crazy plans from all the carriers... that would ROCK
