Are these any good??

So far, the good I'm seeing is, for a brand new one, a base model, 6mt, good on gas but still does 0-60 in 5.5, has a tighter suspension than the higher trims????... all for under $30,000?

Is that pricing for a V6 or a turbo 4cyl?

Turbo 4

Good auto x cars. Better chassis than the Mustang. Horrible blind spots though. I have been mulling over a 1LE but likely would end up with a PP2 Mustang because of the price difference.

I've been scoping them out too. Man they're sharp looking. My '67 is taking forever to build want something in the mean time haha..

Would love an older ZL1 or Z28 but the dash makes me wanna puke.

Yeah, no way I would get a Camaro or Mustang without a V8.

The 4Cyl mustang was terrible when I took one for a rip in HI at Christmas.

The 6.2 V8 is seriously the best part of the Camaro. Take that away and it might as well be a Chevy cruise.

Ya I did read that, you might be seeing a Camaro being victimized by the Sage Hill rock some time in the coming months lol

I think I would regret not experiencing the V8 though.

But I'm looking at the base EcoBoost Mustang and it has 325 ft lbs of torque at 3000rpm?!... that's crazy compared to my 09 370Z..... unfortunately I'm only looking at base models right now as my budget is less than $30,000 and I'd prefer new or close to new, otherwise I'd just keep my 10 year old Z.

Yea this - I was completely blown away how bad the vis was in a modern car. Like driving a fucking pillbox.

Retro look > functionality - another reason I despise most new cars.

Definitely a performance bargain. But I definitely think with buying a V6.. You will always want that V8 for the sound. But the V6 Camaro is a great car, I would probably try to get the 1LE package though.

I don’t get why you would want rev matching AND manual.

I can understand being a dinosaur and wanting manual, but wanting the car to do 90% of the work for you? Lol just get an auto with paddles.

I still enjoy the tactile feedback of a manual... I'm not ready to completely move over yet. I like the revmatch and yes you're right, it's already half way to an auto. I drive my Z with it on 100% of the time and it's great! But there's also an option to turn it off too.

Kind of like hill start assist on newer manuals, i don't have it on my Z, would I like it? Definitely.

I don’t have rev match on my GT350 and I’m too big with clumsy feet to proper heel toe. I have to brake and use the right of my foot sole to jab the accelerator like Matt from Onetake.

Regardless, my civic type R has rev match and it’s wicked. Don’t have to concentrate on heel toe entering a hard corner.

Ya, I guess the argument is now being made that why not just get an auto. It's just not the same. Physically operating a clutch and moving my hand and actually feeling the gears thru the shifter and the clutch, it never gets old. It's not the same as just flipping a button or clicking a lever back and forth.

My winter and practical ride is a GLK, I use the manumatic function on it and it works well to a point, giving me more control and letting me engine brake like I'm used to, but it's still not the same. I wouldn't imagine it'd be any different if it was a DCT. My previous winter ride was G37x coupe with the 7 speed auto and it was good too but again, so not the same. I need to feel that physical connection.

Camaro interior still seems cheap to me. Lots of plastic trim. View is brutal. Windows are way too high with a greenhouse that is depressing.

4 cylinder sound and feel is awful. 6 is the way to go on a budget and is really quite quick, with numbers that embarass performance v8s of not long ago. With that said, the 8 is clearly amazing. We have a few ZL1s on our lot and they are knockout aggressive in every way.

As for the auto debate, just make the switch already. I like manuals too but today's autos are both faster than you to shift, as well as better economy. Win win.

Haha I don't see what the big deal is, I just stuck blind spot mirrors and haven't shoulder checked in years.

Back on topic though, ya, you people are right, I would regret not getting the V8 so I'll either go used or wait a couple years. Just like the tranny issue, there are some things you can only experience with a V8.

Other than the tiny rear window the side blind spots in the current Camaro are not as bad as my C5Z. I was very surprised to see that. I’m considering selling my car and getting a 1LE but probably won’t happen.

Visibility isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, the only time it's a PITA is when maneuvering around parking lots or trying to parallel park.

The 4cyl turbo is lighter and has more torque than the V6 and at our altitude only makes marginally less horespower, if between those two I'd get the 4cyl turbo personally.

I still love mine but I feel as though on Sunday, especially the PM course I drove the wheels off the thing but was still off the pace by over half a second. It was an exceptionally slalom heavy course which certainly doesn't help but I just can't slalom the thing as well as some of the lighter/narrower cars in class. I want to see what the deals look like on the new C8

I’m really leaning towards selling my car and not replacing it or else buying the cheapest HS car I can find.

I got ~85 competitive runs out of a set of 305/30/19 stones, so it's not Hoosier money but it ain't cheap either.

There's something to be said for one of those new Civic's in HS.
