Thinking of getting into 2012+ CLS/E550's (4.6 biturbo). While the engine and transmission seems solid, it seems like a lot of issues is related to electronics and the air suspension.

Would you guys ever consider these cars out of warranty? If you have owned one, are there many issues with them?

Also, is 3rd party warranty program worth it or just complete scams?

I would. CLS550 still one of my favorite all around cars.

Air suspension is a known issue, but the benefits are awesome. Easy to lower and raise, comfy or sporty, works well. Known issue is that they basically need replacement from wear and tear at around 160,000km. About $8-10k job all in. You can cheap out and replace it with standard suspension for 1/3 of the price, but that replaced air suspension will easily last you another decade.
