Longshot here but I am on the hunt for an open wheeled racecar such as a Van Diemen Formula car. Budget is $20-25k CAD. Mostly looking from the West coast to Manitoba area for pickup. Does not need to be certified for racing currently (will not be raced wheel to wheel). Willing to trade a 2002 Corvette Z06 as well.

Please PM if you have anything that might fit (I know it’s a long shot).

I doubt they sell them but what about contacting the UofC/UofA formula SAE teams. Perhaps they'd sell one of their old race cars?

Cool idea but looking for something a little larger and more powerful for lapping days.

That’s fair, I know they run restrictor plates on the intake to level the playing field so removing that would give it a big power bump. IIRC the 2008 UofA ran a 600cc CBR engine with a turbo so not exactly slow. But I don’t know what the rules have been since then

They are not slow but the size presents a fear when you’re out on track with 4000lb cars buzzing you too. They generally make around 100HP with the restrictor plates, but power becomes important to push air at higher speeds. Something Van Diemen based is likely what I am hoping for.

FSAE can't sell old cars, they're Uni property and they won't even allow them to be sold to team alumni. Parts are also heavily re-used from gen to gen so even if they sold them all you'd get is a bare chassis that smells faintly of stale beer.

Bump still looking for something to replace my Corvette. Willing to travel country wide. Missed out on a Formula Arcobaleno locally last fall.

Not sure if this helps you, just thought of this thread when I seen this:

The radical that comes lapping with us was for sale about a month ago up here in Edmonton for $34000. The ad is down and I don't know the guy personally, but with some digging, I'll bet you could find it still for sale.

Yes I know the car, $34k USD is just too much for me and it didn’t seem like a great deal compared to other US cars.

Bump probably willing to spend up to $35k on something now. Also willing to part trade my 2005 CTS-V if needed.
