I'd try it for the novelty but overall it reminds me of the cheesy Shrek 4D show in Universal Studios.

I hate 3d, so no, I'm not excited about anything newer than that.

Why do you hate 3D?

Have eye problems and vastly different prescriptions on one side. That means 3d just gives me a headache and looks blurry, and my peripheral vision sucks. So that 270 degree thing looks awful too.

The smell-o-vision sounds fine though.

How does screen X work? Are they just going to blow up the wide screen so it projects onto 3 screens? If that's the case you're gonna be missing a lot of things in your peripheral that should have been directly in front of you.

4DX sounds terribly and super cheesy ... don't think I'll even try it. The dbox seats were pretty blah. I found it distracted a lot from the movie rather than actually made it better. Was neat but wouldn't do it again.

Screen X sounds interesting but I wonder how many movies are actually shot for that? Is it mostly just going to be nature documentaries or something?

Same questions.

What movies exist for these and also which Calgary theatres even have these...

I've been in the 4DX - if you've ever been on the lesser/very tame Universal Studios 4D "rides", these are exactly the same. They have been around for years and years, just not in Calgary. Got to wonder about hygiene as well when it blows air/water/scent into your face from a nozzle in front of the seat which never gets cleaned - maybe don't go in flu season haha.

That’s what I was thinking, it’s a giant petri dish.

I was not fond of Harry Potter blowing a load on my face at Universal Studios Orlando.

They've had 15 years to figure out how to positively market smell-o-vision at Sunridge. They have stray dogs roaming the isles, afterbirth left in the seats after a longer presentation, and the ever pungent scent of the Ganges wafting thru the air.

How the hell is the next Avengers supposed to top that? Unless 3D Scarlett Johansson emerges from the screen to pop those bubbles in front of your face...

When are we going to get feel-around

I have been waiting for years to get this in an adult theater.... if they still exist.

From my understanding they work with filmmakers so that its not just stretched around but actual additional footage.

Prepare yourself Disney movie-goers. 3 Times the screen, 3 times the Jar-Jar Binks. Gotta fill them screens

Yeah - it's probably not great. At least you have 3D glasses to protect a little bit.

I could go without that as well - the idea behind it is neat, but in practice it ends up being a little off-putting IMHO.

Similar to those Dyson Airblade hand dryers where all they do is blow the dirty water from everyone else right back onto your hands haha.

Maybe for a movie like Avatar but what happens when you're watching a 50 Shades of Grey remake and they blow snatch air in your face?

Some people would pay extra for that

All that money for screens, projectors, HDR, 4K. All to look at it through a 2cent darkening film that only works with your head pointed exactly at the focal point and horizontal.

No thanks.
