All the miata owners probably think it's oh so funny for the internets. or someone wrote their miata off and are trying to inflate insurance payouts

This actually does work if done sensibly.

One way to find out would be to flood it with cheap ads and see if you get angry messages

The RX-8 market is doing this right now as well.

I've always found Miatas to be priced at far more than what VMR or CBB suggests...

Maybe you meant expensive ads? That's exactly what a friend of mine did. I don't think he monitored for replies though. He knew his car was a write off, so before he even called insurance, he posted 8 different ads in his area with asking prices all around 3-4k higher than market. Adjuster looked at Kijiji, then paid him more than he had even paid for the car originally.

So insurance fraud is cool now?

That's what I was thinking... what a slimy deadbeat.

Although that adjuster is a moron though.

I suppose stealing from thieves is still stealing. But... It really feels like a Diet Coke of stealing.

Yeah, that does seem to be the general consensus. Still, I dunno, I'm kind of black and white about this stuff.

There must be more than one group out there because I can’t imagine the Wild Rose Miata guys doing that shit.

Did someone say it was cool? I gotta read better, I always miss these little tid bits.

The guy is dead now, so maybe that will add some moral comfort for you. I'll say a little prayer tonight and let him know you disapprove.

I noticed the same thing the same day the OP made the post. Miatas "selling" for tens of thousands of dollars above market value.

Someone is doing this with a purpose, and messing with the Autotrader pricing tool seems like a good bet.

Wat?? I mean someone else should post the cheap ads... to see if you can fish out the guy posting the expensive ads
