I guess Calgary has Chevron gas stations now, news to me. Stopped at the one off of 52nd St and 114th Ave and to my surprise it had 94 octane. Sticker says ethanol free and it had its own hose.

That changes everything. When did this happen?

So now we have high octane (for pump gas) and E85 in town. Awesome.

Interesting. A quick google maps says there's another on McKnight just off Deerfoot. Might have to take a look.

I wonder how this compares to Petro's 94 Octane..

Wow, that's awesome! Thanks Xamim!

Great news for those of us with older Nissans.

Do you dudes have separate tunes for this high-octane gas?

If it's ethanol free, then vastly superior IMO. Will give you the same tuned HP, but with better fuel economy.

Yeah, this is better than Husky's and Petro's 94 octane.

For me, my car is tuned on Husky 94. Going to see how this plays out over the next few months and look into getting it re-tuned for Chevron. The JDM crowd should benefit from this too.

Chevron has been in town now for about a year I want to say? One of the few with 94 octane that is ethanol free.

Mine's got 91 and 94 maps, I only ever run 91 even if I put 93 or 94 in it though.

Yes right off of 12 Street, used to be a Fas Gas with a wand wash. But they demolished that and now there is Chevron and A&W.

There is one on 2315 68 St NE. Its been there for about a year or so and has 94 with the separate pump. I was using it in the summer months and no issues. Ran good with my charger and even used it once or twice for the truck. They have their own rewards card if I am not mistaken as well.

Yeah but then you have to make a special trip to the NE every time you want it. I'm good with Shell 91 for now until they get more stations going.

I remember reading a while ago on people complaining about Chevron 94 and tuning. They said it was very inconsistent and that it made on average less power than Shell 91.

It was all people from BC talking about it but cant remember where I read it. By the sounds of it, I would't be too happy about it.

Hopefully, local shops can do a comparison between Chevron and Husky.

Petro is garbage.

When I was out in Kelowna for a week or so a few years ago, I ran Chevron 94 and the car didn't like it. No actual data, but could feel it pulling boost on pulls. Was tuned on Husky 94

My car is on a 93 octane tune and it actually runs better on Petro 94 than husky. When doing logs, there was more knock from Husky.

Interesting, guess it's best to wait for some local testing/results. Hopefully someone like Sunny (Airboy) can do a comparison.

Still using 100LL in the protege since I can get it cheap. On Husky 94 I used to get ping over 24psi of boost but could try Chevron to see how it compares.

That is correct. Owners of tuned GTR's were getting better results crossing the border for US Chevron 91 than BC Chevron 94. I would like to see some evidence that this gas is any good as I have a hunch Shell 91 will probably still be better for most people.

Sucks if that’s the case, non ethanol 94 would be really nice.
I can confirm that husky 94 is superior to shell 91. A couple years ago the husky 94 was getting hard to find so I filled up on shell 91, it pings even at moderate boost for me. I had to retune and pull timing earlier.

Never tried Petro 94, is it the same or better than husky?

Yeah but Husky 94 has ethanol in it too. Not sure on Shell 91 as I haven't filled there in awhile.

She'll V-Power certifiably has zero ethanol (in this market).

I'm also looking forward to a dedicated pump for Chevron-94!

I asked him about that last year as I have a Subaru that used to be tuned to Husky 94 and I go pretty deep into BC for skiing:
In a pinch, PetroCan94 can be used in place of Husky94. Chevron 94 isn't BC is recommended as I have seen results worse than Shell 91.

Based on that, and the fact that Husky is trying to divest all of their downstream (retail) segment, I went with a Shell 91 tune. I had bad results from the Sicamous Chevron 94 in my Z as well (Husky 94 tuned), all the same settings with a Profec and it would overboost and ping. IMO its bad gasoline.

There's also the greater latent heat of vaporization for ethanol than gasoline which afaik isn't included in the octane rating. So you'll have higher effective octane in an ethanol blended fuel than a straight gasoline because the charge will be cooler. I'm firmly in the ethanol gas camp when your goal is to make power. Mileage on the other hand...

I haven’t had good experiences with Chevron 94 in BC, will stick to Shell 91 for my car I think.

Any of you note what the price differential between 87 and 94 is at chevron?

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that Chevron 94 would be a replacement for Husky 94, because of reasons that you've mentioned. Seems like Shell 91 would be the next best thing if Husky 94 becomes extinct.

Agreed on the ethanol blended pump gas. Wish that we had more e85 stations in town, but I don't know if I would daily a car running it. Getting 200-250km per tank would get old fast.

When I filled up last Friday, 87 octane was $0.93 and 94 was $1.17.

Their spread between 87 and 94 is less than Shells spread between 87 and 91.

Seriously, fuck Shell. I don't care how good their 91 is.
