Hey guys, hoping someone on here has a quick answer for me as the internet has been useless thus far.

Doing some rewriting this weekend for my HT and completely slipped my mind to pickup a super long HDMI cable for the purpose.

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX47133

Can someone let me know if the above cable should suit my purpose? (Overkill length time give us some fishing flexibility).

The big thing I’m concerned about is it’s an active cable due to the length and what effect that will have on future compatibility, namely HDMI 2.0b and 2.1 compatibility.

I don’t want to spend 100 bucks on a cable and find out it won’t pass HDR to the tv or that I will need to pull new cable this winter to use the next gen console VRR features.

I’m going to run Cat 6 Ethernet either way as well fwiw but a good HDMI over Ethernet setup is even more expensive than the cable.
TIA

HdbaseT over eithernet is already maxed out. Cat7 can’t go past 10gbps where as hdmi 2.0 can do 18. You can’t even do 4k60 with hdbaset. HDMI 2.1 at 48gbps is an impossibility.

Certified cables aren’t even out yet for hdmi 2.1, let alone active. Active cables can do 18gbps just fine so you’ll have no problems with today’s standards. If you care about games and freesync wait till they make active 2.1 cables.

install conduit to your PJ.

Yes this. Cable standards will change, you aren't going to future proof yourself with any current cables.

Interesting. I thought HDbaseT would be good for sure.

HDMI cable it is. I’ll see what I can do with conduit... this is retrofit into a finished space lol

I'm not kicking you while you're down. I'm giving you props for your prophetic abilities.
