I thought this deserved its own thread outside of the recession thread... but $30k... if it runs and drives... pretty decent price.

Any budding youtube stars wanting to kickstart their channel?

It’s been up for 3-4 months at that price. I think it would have sold by now if it wasn’t a total turd.

I came across that ad a couple weeks ago. That thing is a shit box. Not to mention you could spend that much maintaining it within a couple years if things don’t go well.

Based on the seats and steering wheel, looks like a used Field Operator's Truck

As someone who worked on these in great depth during my time with Bentley, that car has many surprises in store for the next owner. The engine and transmissions are good but the water pump and dash screen will be on their way out and between the two, theres 15k worth of work sitting there. The Mulliner wheels are a nice addition and worth a small fortune on their own. The plastidip/truck bed liner grille is definitely a no.

I hope people are smart enough to avoid exotic/supercars that are that old based on their own common sense. But then again - common sense is the most common thing, which is not so common in every common person.

Know someone w/ an '06 who had to replace the front windshield and it was $10K

BavarianBeast

One of my old managers bought an 06 in 2009 for $60k. By 2017 and 70,000kn he said he had spent over $80k in maintenance. Cheap to buy, expensive to drive.

The cars depreciate at the rate they do, in part, because the service and parts don't depreciate.

You're still buying parts for a $300k car...

some owner could probably buy this for parts.

There are many videos of why Bentleys should not be bought simply because they are 'cheap' - hoovies garage for eg! lol

I agree though... For Parts, its probably worth it, it must be the cheapest in North America. I am surprised someone hasn't tried to export it.

Haha. Though I believe I know which one he is talking about. I believe it's a convertible.

And they were also working on trying to get in a Red F430. I wonder if that deal went through.

Correct. Vert for a vert and from what I was told, the GTC is already sold (nice condition too, interior looks mint)

We had it listed for $59,900

I dont even want to imagine what the bill would be like when something major happens if a screen and water pump are $15k. My old neighbor at my condo had a pretty hot wife and she was always rolling around in nice cars, one day when i went to show the place i noticed they bought a pretty nice but used range rover. FFWD some time i went by to repair something and i noticed the range was sitting pretty crooked on the driveway, got to talking to the neighbor and he said the air suspension broke and it was around $5k to repair and they werent sure if it was worth fixing because theyve already dumped a ton of money into it lol

Are you sure it wasn't an A6 Audi allroad? Because that's sounds exactly like an allroad.

Back to topic, someone should buy it and drop a LS into it

I've been through that (more than once!) on my wife's old GL... F that ever again.

But I thought you were a proponent of coilover replacement when the air suspension inevitably failed on Benz'?

Worth mentioning, the Conti will have air suspension too...

I did a rear air bag on a Grand Marquis and that was about the easiest suspension work I've ever done.

Yeah, not having the threat of a spring lodged into your throat makes it easier to work on. The allroad was easy, just not cheap.

And thats 5K per corner. Rovers are never an if, but a when for the air suspension. Especially in winter. The rubber cracks when its frozen and the air bags are useless until fixed.

Fuck that that’s too claptrap for me. Plus that interior infotainment is garbage and hard to modify.

Air suspension isn’t a big deal; I’d gut it and run a different management system on those bags.

I’ll recommend swapping it to coils if you can’t afford to fix it. If I ever have a Benz old enough with broken air suspension and love the car enough to drive it another 10 years till it breaks again, $1k a year is worth it.

Can always get Arnott parts instead of dealer OEM to save some bucks as well.....I need to test drive one with air suspension to see what all the hoopla is about and if its so dreamy like ya'll say

MB Air suspension is 'decently' reliable unless you beat on it. Also there are very good aftermarket alternatives now making the repair and parts cost more reasonable.

ABC on the other hand... yeah thats a mess.

Air suspension is easy; it's literally four bladders and air lines.

E and up. There's a more advanced active suspension version on the GLE now too called Active Body Control.

So what's so special? Balance of comfort and sport. In comfort, it's just a nice plush ride with good non floaty feedback. In the corners it firms up and delivers a lot less body roll than what the softer ride suggests. The Active Body Control enhances that by using cameras to determine road surface and anticipates the needed suspension movement. Pothole? No problem. Coat right over it without fucking those silly low profile tires. Cornering for fun? Let's bank the car inwards so that it can deliver a perfectly flat cornering experience. Didn't see that speed bump? You probably wouldn't even feel it under 80km/h.

For big ass comfy 4000+ boats that they're installed on, it's really the best of both worlds.
