I assume vehicles need two reverse lamps to be considered legal, but can’t find anywhere to support this. The only mention I find in the vehicle equipment regulation is of the colour of the lamps. Anyone have any insight on where this would be covered?

Vehicle and Equipment Requirements
Marginal note:Compliance by companies

5 (1) No company shall apply a national safety mark to any vehicle or equipment, sell any vehicle or equipment to which a national safety mark has been applied, or import into Canada any vehicle or equipment of a prescribed class unless

(a) the vehicle or equipment conforms to the standards prescribed for vehicles or equipment of its class at the time the main assembly of the vehicle was completed or the equipment was manufactured;

I would take as manufactured would be in compliance.

Pretty sure the FR-S / BRZ is generally considered as only one reverse light...
Something else out there too but I don't remember what. Was worse because it's not in the middle. Scion TC? The one I saw didn't even have a bulb socket in the other side...

If the reverse lights are only to be illuminated when moving in reverse, why do the newer chevy's illuminate when the truck is turned off. This should also be added to one of the pet peeve threads for me...

Because its not a moving vehicle at that point, and you can do whatever you want? The rule is they can't be on when the vehicle is "in motion". They are using them as a courtesy light when the vehicle is off...

Yup. I now have no fucks given when people are actually trying to back out of their parking spot.

Should be fine, as long as it's not on when you put it in park

This is a setting that can be configured. Or at least it was on 2017/2018 trucks.

So my beef is with the driver, not the truck. Good to know
