Has anyone on beyond been in one of the communities that already has this? Does the app actually work because the reviews online aren’t great.

The reason I think this is a shit idea is it disfavours the elderly and non English speaking people of Calgary. My mother in law in a pre-covid Calgary took the bus every day to the pool and she can barely speak English, let alone read English and use a cellphone to book a bus.

Hopefully the city adjusts this service to accommodate your mother in law.

Has your MIL considered learning the primary language of the country in which she resides?

Just be happy she isn't driving anymore.

I thought they accounted for this immigrant problem when they introduced it in the WASPy west

I thought the lack of bus service was supposed to keep immigrants out?

On October 13th the city is cancelling all buses in my area and replacing them with this. So instead of just hopping on a bus after I get off the train you have to schedule a ride with this app. I can see myself doing a lot more shuttling around.

Very helpful suggestion. I can’t even get her to put bowls and shit in the right places let alone attempt to learn English.

topic may be taboo but eventually it could be too much for you and/or your wife to handle.

Start planning or at least start having a convo about it with your wife. Waiting period isn't short.

The application process does that too. It filters out applicant's that would have no issue with the job role in favour of those born here.
