View Full Version : Older Mini Cooper GP - valuable?

Anyone have ideas of where to come up with a value for a 2006-ish Mini Cooper GP? Kinda rare I think, only 2000 of them built (I think) Owned by a friends dad since new, and he's a little baffled about how to sell this. Don't know mileage, but he had 2 other cars the entire time, so I assume he wasn't year-round commuting or anything.

Thoughts? Is there just that one Mini dealership around cowtown these days?

Here's one that sold $33,000 USD on BAT a few days ago. They are worth a decent amount if in mint shape.

I buy and sell beaters, so I hadn't thought of BAT. that seems like maybe the right way to go with this thing. or is it something the local mini dealer might want in it's inventory?

TLDR For what is special about these things??

Basically a low production track day special kind of car. GP1 (2006) was not sold in Canada, GP3 (2021) also is not being sold here. 50 GP2 were produced for Canada, and at least one has been a total loss so far. I own GP2 23/50.

Well, holy hell this is going how I thought. Info was totally wrong, it is a 2013 (so Gen2). Has currently 39,000 km on it.

I didn't read the whole thread but I know when cars are discussed you're supposed to say Trackhawk.

BAT seems like the best option because you're going to get a different audience of buyers. Seen some unique cars locally go through there with success.
I would recommend that option, unless you somehow get a unicorn buyer for these locally.

This was also my advice to Extraslow. I got mine off BaT but it was semi local (Edmonton).

The GPs are definitely hard to come by. But just like Twin_Cam mentioned, they are pretty much turn-key track day vehicle. So I would suspect if your friend's dad didn't drive the vehicle hard at all, you might have found a gem.

My offer is a double meat sub. But, a fancier sub like Da Club Sub. Not some Cold Cut Trio broke-ass shit.

Have him put a feeler post on the Calgary Facebook group to gauge interest. All local owners, almost cult followers (they name their Minis, and always park besides other Minis in parking lots...). You'll get good insights into worth, and could even connect with potential buyers there.

No just stupidity. I would absolutely recommend buying this car to someone if the price is right.

Post it up on beyond when he has a price in mind. I’d be interested in picking it up.

WTF man, don't do that, unless your friend wants half of what he can get...if it was me, I'd post it in a local or semi-local Mini group on Facebook or something.

Well, I have no update on this vehicle. I will not be involved in the sale. If anyone on beyond is a serious buyer, or just wants to pretend to be one, PM me your contact info and I'll pass it along.

I spoke to the owner this morning and he seems very nice. This sounds like a really good car to have for anyone looking for a GP2. I told him I’d poke around and see if I also could find an interested buyer locally.

What kind of $$ is he looking for?

We did not discuss a firm price but I would ballpark in the lowish 20s.

I think $20k is reasonable. Hope he finds a unicorn buyer and gets more.

It raised a fair amount of interest in the local Mini Facebook page, hopefully can find him a good buyer.

I think he will, had three very interested parties message me right away for contact info at a rough asking price.

Thought I'd bring some closure to this thread. This sold for a nice price. And he's already purchased a new Countryman All 4 JCW which is apparently fast as well (301 HP, 334 ft lbs and 0-100 in 4.9 seconds), although a lot larger. He's shrinking his fleet, so this replaces an MDX in his garage as well as the Mini GP.

Sunken family rooms used to be a thing, just think, you're a trend setter again all due to ExtraSlow.
