Like the title says, looking for recent experience @ Silverhill (or any other Acura dealership I guess). Possibly looking to buy a new MDX, import dealerships seem to be awful sticky on their pricing.

I bought my RDX there last year, feel free to shoot me a PM if you want.

2020 or 2022 model next year? I tried the 2020 model before buying the RDX and wasn’t thrilled with it

No trackhawk I'm afraid, leaning hard towards MDX / RDX.

MDX AND TrackHawk is an acceptable solution.

Is Type S not as good as Trackhawk? If not, what about A Spec?

A-Spec is the current leader. As stupid as it sounds the colour is essentially the leading factor here.

A-Spec is what I went with in the end. White with black accents and no red seats

First service went well, not terribly expensive for a dealer oil change and they apologized profusely when I had to "settle" for a TLX loaner.

My main issue with the MDX was the infotainment, I hated the two screen and their use of touch screen and the little knob. Followed by it feeling heavy.

Trackhawk Schmackhawk...Type S A Spec is where it's at my friend.

In all seriousness though, I love those new RDX's...design wise they look incredible compared to the generic looking models of yesteryear.

Infotainment system is what I've read to be a negative but she's the one that has to live with it so I'll have to make sure she's aware. The Boss changes her vehicle on average once a decade so it needs to be the right choice.

No Type S available until next summer I think? Not sure I want to wait that long.

Won't that be a 17 year old design by the time she's done with a 2020 model in 2030?

Interior is quite dated but it does have AA/CP so at least cell phone integration is there but navigation is via knob as it's displayed on the upper screen.

Acura is throwing $8K on the hood right now if you are paying cash/finance on a 2020. Dealer may discount when 2022 lands in spring but your picking could be slim by then.

If she changes the vehicle once in a decade shouldn't you go with the top of the line Infotainment system ? That way it won't be out dated anytime soon?
Not to throw wrench into your decision making process, have you looked into the GLE's? I know it is more money than RDX.

But keeping a NA Acura running for 10 years probably will be cheaper than a FI German for the same period.

Germans are out, she keeps them too long and I'm not dealing with them out of warranty.

I've never had good service at Silverhill and always find that dealership to have an arrogance to it that follows most of the people that work there whether it be in sales or on the service side. My buying experience is a few years old now but they would not negotiate at all on any particulars surrounding financing and there was limited negotiation on the actual price of the car. I used car-cost-canada's print out on the year and model of our RDX with a bit of success on the second time chatting with them and even then it only went from "the price is the price" to "okay well this is the best we can do" (which wasn't much). They were willing to deal make on accessories like rear cargo mat and 3M but for the most part it didn't seem like there was much room to even try to negotiate. Had my wife not been dead set on an Acura we likely would have left.

Their service department is horrendous to deal with and on more than one occasion when my wife was taking the car in (I was on night shift) the upsell pressure, or confusing way they would lay out the work to be done was extremely disheartening. She had a pebble stuck in her rear passenger dust cover on her brakes so I told her to ask them to take the wheel off and get it out and we'd pay the $40-60 for the 15 minutes of time it took to do that. Somehow that morphed into them taking all 4 wheels off at $100/wheel to inspect the dust covers on top of doing additional service work we didn't approve of but they did anyways because it was close enough to the service interval. After having to get the service manager involved on two separate times of them pulling that sort of shit on her and dealing with being given credit towards future work we just flat out stopped going there at all. My satellite radio cut out and stayed out for long periods of time and I was told thats a sirus problem not Acura. They gave me a loaner RDX that did not have the same issue and it was only after I brought that up did they replace the radio and its been working fine since. The $22 battery for the key fob was just the cherry on time.

Any routine maintenance that I don't do myself gets done at a Honda dealership or if I need parts I will go to the Acura dealership in the NW. Their prices on parts are about 75-80% less than Silverhill for genuine Acura parts and so far my exposure to their service department is much much more positive than Silverhill.

Well Mr. Schurchill39 I can relate to the purchase portion of your post. Last night we brought home the wife's new car (2020 MDX A-Spec, the bright blue one) and had there not been significant factory money built into the deal and the wife being very particular about the vehicle I'm not sure I would have bought there. The salesman was 3/5 stars, very broken English, nice enough but not a car guy at all. It was largely a self serve transaction. They gave us the same trade in value on the outgoing vehicle that two other dealerships gave us so no complaints there. I can't really comment on the business office too much, it was a cash deal and the guy could tell pretty quick I wasn't going to tolerate any up sell / twisting of the numbers. Oddly they didn't even mention winter tires & rims, I had to call the parts department the next day for pricing on that (which I ended up buying from them anyway, made sure the parts department got credit for the sale). Delivery of the vehicle was supposed to be with their delivery specialist but we ended up with the same salesman that we had trouble understanding, so he just talked louder...lol. The wife has her car so she's happy but I won't be in a rush to return for service, probably going to try to figure out the best Honda shop in the South end of town.

On that note, who do you guys like for Honda shops in the South end of town (service department)?

I've had a decent experience with both Okotoks Honda and Heritage Honda. A couple small instances of "firmly suggesting" some additional maintenance to my wife (who is easily flustered with car stuff) but nothing like Silverhill and I was easily able to get it sorted. Both of their pricing seemed fair and the techs were all pleasant to deal with.

If never step into Silverhill again it will be too soon.

PS: Congrats on the purchase despite where you got it from :nut:

Not very south, but central. I have been satisfied with T&T. They seem organized and communicate well.

Anything North of Glenmore is further than I would be looking, weather starts getting bad up there.

I took my wife’s RDX to Honda west one time. They were cheap, but not good. Had the car for an entire day for an oil change, despite having an appointment and commitment it would be done quickly.

That's very different from what Northwest did. SO took her MDX in for squeaky breaks. Pulled into service bay. The guy said "There's a pebble. Let me get it out." She was in and out in under 5 mins with $0 paid.

Koh Law, Noel or Effren. But looks like Koh went to sales manager now. I've had a great experience there with my past acruas with these fellows.
