I think it was a thread about Weber Academy, and 89coupe just kept gushing about how Aspen is without a doubt the absolute best neighborhood in the city, and he can get to anywhere in Calgary in 15min. from there.

Then, as with any joke, it just spiralled from there.

In all seriousness, Aspen and aspen-adjacent (hi nzwasp) are very typical suburban neighborhoods, just with larger mortgages. So yeah you get the fancy stores in the strip mall, and nicer cars, but it's just another suburb.
Certainly not "The Worst Neighborhood in Calgary" like some weirdo suggested. However eerily similar to it . . .

Well commute is a few seconds shorter than Airdrie so that has to count for something

Patterson would be just ahead, because it has Schooners which adds a certain grit and character none of the other ‘west of Sarcee’ neighborhoods have.

I went to that Redwater on MacLeod (I guess Haysboro was technically the right area location) and it was pretty good, but not a load blower. I didn't know there were more. Checking their website, it looks like there's maybe only one left, and it's in Charlottetown, LoL! Maybe it was always a PEI restaurant that tried a go in Calgary which would be funny because there are way better restaurants in PEI than that!
